TheX-Menhave some of the planet’s most powerful heroes as members, but when it comes to Marvel’s mutants, power is always relative. Cyclops may be the iconic team leader and Colossus their most reliable muscle, but both have uber-powerful mutant siblings who make them look B-list in comparison. Indeed, because certain mutant bloodlines are inherently powerful, it’s common for powerful mutants to have evenmorepowerful siblings.
Here are the 10 most powerful X-Men heroes who have evenmorepowerful siblings, with brothers and sisters who surpass their mutant abilities - including some that evenreach the coveted Omega level status.

10Colossus Is an Icon, But Magik Is a Sorcerer Supreme
The Rasputin Siblings Are Both Huge X-Men Assets
Colossus, aka Piotr Rasputin, is one of the X-Men’s strongest heroes, with incredible superstrength and the ability to transmute his skin into a steel-like substance. Colossus has mixed it up with everyone from the Juggernaut to the Hulk, even if those A-list powerhousesaremore than he can usually handle solo. However, the Rasputin family line has produced not one but two other mutants who possess an even greater level of power.
The most notable is Illyana Rasputina’s Magik. Magik’s mutant ability is teleportation, creating discs of energy which allow her and others to pass through the Limbo dimension and pop out at a location of Magik’s choosing. That alone would be a major power, butMagik is also an accomplished sorcerer, with immense magical abilities including shields, energy blasts and the power to summon demonic servants. She also possesses the Soulsword - one ofthe most powerful magical weaponsin Marvel lore.

Magik came by her mystical mastery the hard way, being kidnapped by Belasco - the demonic ruler of Limbo - during childhood and raised for years in the hellish dimension. Thankfully, Magik eventually triumphed over her captor, becoming the ruler and Sorcerer Supreme of Limbo. Since then, she’s worked with the New Mutants and X-Men as one of mutantkind’s heaviest hitters.
Sadly, the final Rasputin sibling has never joined the X-Men, and is actually an enemy to Marvel’s mutants. Colossus and Magik’s older brother Mikhail Rasputin can warp space on the subatomic level, allowing for teleportation, energy control and the ability to open pocket dimensions. Tragically,X-Force #46sawColossus forced to kill his brotherafter Mikhail launched an attack on the mutant nation of Krakoa.

12 Most Powerful X-Men Heroes Who Can’t Pass for Human
Some of X-Men’s greatest heroes have drastic physical mutations that mean they can never hide from a world that hates and fears them.
9Thunderbird Might Be the Older Brother, But Warpath Is the Powerhouse
The Proudstar Brothers Are Major Mutant Muscle
Debuting in the iconicGiant-Size X-Men #1from Len Wein & Dave Cockrum, John Proudstar is a piece of X-Men history for all the wrong reasons. After Marvel editorial decided that Thunderbird’s anti-authority attitude was too similar to Wolverine, John was killed off in 1975 - a historic loss for the team that made it clear Marvel was willing to permanently kill off its mutant heroes. John has an enhanced physique, including enhanced speed, durability and strength, with Marvel stating he’s capable of lifting approximately 2 tons.
Introduced in 1984’sNew Mutants #16, James Proudstar’s Warpath is John’s younger brother, following in his footsteps as an X-Men hero. A frequent X-Force member, James has a more extreme version of his brother’s powers, able to run at 100 miles per hour and lift 75 tons at his peak. He also possesses a healing factor and the power of flight, as well as limited shamanistic magic.

Thunderbird and Warpath were finally reunited in 2022’sNew Mutants #24(Vita Ayala, Danilo Beyruth and Dan Brown), when John was resurrected using a combination of mutant powers.
8Nightcrawler’s Teleportation Can’t Equal His Adopted Sister Rogue
Mystique Connects Two of the Most Iconic X-Men
The X-Men’s acrobatic teleporter Nightcrawler and power thief Rogue need no introduction to any fans of the series, however not everyone knows they’re siblings.Nightcrawler is the biological son of Mystique and Destiny, who went on to adopt Rogueafter being forced to abandon their son. The two have only recently begun to truly explore their sibling bond, after Nightcrawler found out the full truth of his origin, and that he was rejected as part of a vital (if convoluted) plan to save the world from the demon Azazel. Currently, Rogue and Nightcrawler are working together in Gail Simone and David Marquez’sUncanny X-Men.
With superstrength, flight and the power to steal any superhuman power on contact, Rogue has always been a heavier hitter that her brother. However,Uncanny X-Menrecently revealed that she has thecombined strength of Captain Marvel and Wonder Manafter permanently absorbing their powers, making her one of the strongest individuals in Marvel lore.

X-Men: Rogue Unlocking Her Full Powers Proved She’s a Mutant God
Rogue has long been one of X-Men’s heaviest hitters, but unlocking her full powers proved she’s more than a superhero - she’s basically a god.
7Husk’s Powers Are Intense, But Cannonball Has Endless Potential
The Guthrie Family Are a Mutant Dynasty
The Guthrie family has produced a number of mutant heroes, from Joshua Guthrie’s Icarus to Melody Guthrie’s Aero. One of the most powerful is Paige Guthrie’s Husk, who has the mutant ability to morph her body into any substance. Through focus, Husk can tear off her skin to reveal a new body made of anything from diamond to magma. This sometimes includes additional powers such as enhanced strength or control over heat. Husk has worked with the X-Men, Generation X, X-Corps and even SHIELD.
It takes a lot to beat a power like that, but Paige’s brother Samuel manages it. Cannonball’s mutant power is to generate a unique propulsive field that allows him to fly through the air like a human rocket. Cannonball can strike with staggering strength using this power, and he’s invulnerable whenever he uses it.It’s also been theorized that Cannonball is a rare type of mutant known as an External, with enhanced powers and the gift of immortality.Cannonball’s strength when blasting can’t be overstated, and inUncanny X-Men #341(Scott Lobdell and Joe Madureira) he even took down Gladiator - an alien beingwith strength comparable to Superman.

6Monet and Emplate Have a Tragic Sibling Relationship
Emplate Might Be the Ultimate Mutant Predator
One of X-Men’s most underrated powerhouses, Monet St. Croix (aka M, aka Penance) has enhanced strength and durability, as well as the powers of flight and limited telepathy. She’s also able to switch into a Penance form, where she gains diamond-hard skin and razor-sharp claws.
Sadly for Monet, her brother Marius St. Croix is even more intimidating. Emplate is a mutant predator, able to siphon power from his victims by consuming their bone marrow. His sister was a major victim of this power, with Emplate permanently stealing her unbreakable skin as a result. Emplate is able to sense the powers of any mutant and, after feeding on them, can control them as a psychic puppet. However, his most chilling ability is dimensional shifting - by moving out of phase with Marvel’s reality, Emplate can become intangible and invisible until he’s ready to strike. To top it off, Emplate has studied magic, adding limited mystic abilities to his arsenal.

12 Most Powerful Mutant Heroes to Ever Join the Avengers
While most mutant heroes are members of the X-Men, a select few have been recruited by the Avengers - here are the most powerful ever to serve.
5Cyclops Is A-List, But Havok Took Down the Hulk
Scott Summers' Brother Is One of X-Men’s Most Powerful Mutants
Scott Summers' Cyclops is the iconic leader of the X-Men, with the power to fire blasts of pure kinetic force from his eyes. A genius tactician who has an instinctive understanding of how to aim and ricochet his blasts,Cyclops' leadership abilities have taken him far, but in terms of raw power, Scott’s brother Alex has him beat.
Similar to Cyclops, Havok is always absorbing ambient radiation, but while Cyclops turns it into force, Havok converts it into superheated plasma. Havok’s plasma is so powerful that he’s one of the few superheroes to have taken down the Hulk solo, and was at one time connected to every version of himself across the multiverse.Open the image gallery below to see Havok down Hulk inThe Incredible Hulk #150by Archie Goodwin and Herb Trimpe.

Cyclops and Havok are immune to each other’s powers.
4Havok Is a Powerhouse, But Vulcan Is an Omega
The Summers Family Should Never Be Underestimated
As powerful as Havok is, he’snotthe most powerful Summers brother. Introduced in 2005’sX-Men: Deadly Genesis #1by Ed Brubaker and Trevor Hairsine, Gabriel Summers' Vulcan is the long-lost brother of Scott and Alex, born after their parents' abduction bythe alien Shi’ar Empire.Vulcan is an Omega-level energy manipulator, with total control overallforms of energy, from the heat of the planet’s core to the electrical signals within the human (or mutant) brain.
Vulcan used his abilities to conquer the Shi’ar empire and launch a galactic war in the epicWar of Kingscrossover, before eventually being taken off the board by Black Bolt. A godlike entity, Vulcan eventually returned, and has been trying to connect with his siblings. Sadly, Abigail Brand’s tampering with his mind means his immense arrogance and cruelty are constantly bubbling beneath the surface.

Evil geneticist Mister Sinister has noted that the Summers family have one of the most potent mutant bloodlines. This makes their DNA particularly useful in his experiments, since it can be easily cloned and combined with a host of other mutant powers.

The X-Men boast some of the strongest heroes in the Marvel Universe - here are their most physically powerful members of all time.
3Betsy Braddock Is a Major Psychic, But Jamie Braddock Controls Reality
Brian Braddock’s Captain Britain Is Related to Two Powerful Mutants
Once known as Psylocke when trapped in the body of the warrior Kwannon, Betsy Braddock is an immensely powerful telepath and telekinetic. Betsy tends to use her psychic powers to generate psionic energy weapons, but she has such fine control that she can also enhance her body and even render herself invisible by bending light around her body. Most recently, Psylocke can be found serving on Forge’s X-Force team in Geoffrey Thorne and Marcus To’s ongoingX-Forceseries.
Betsy has two super-powerful brothers. The first is Brian Braddock - the former Captain Britain and currently Captain Avalon. Empowered by Merlin,Captain Britain can do anythinghe sincerely believes himself capable of, with impressive baseline strength and durability, as well asmajor ties to magic that allow him to physically break spells with his bare hands.

However, both Betsy and Brian pale in comparison to their brother Jamie.Another Omega mutant, Jamie has total control over reality, seeing the quantum strings that govern natural law. Currently codenamed Monarch, Brian can travel through time, resurrect the dead, and control the power of others, as well as possessing immense magical power separate to his mutant abilities. Jamie has traditionally been a villain, but reached an uneasy alliance with the X-Men during the Krakoan Era.
2Polaris Is Becoming the Mistress of Magnetism, But Her Sister Zala Commands Magic
Magneto’s Daughter Has a Surprise Competitor
The biological daughter of Magneto, Polaris possesses magnetic powers almost equal to her father, working with the X-Men and multiple versions of the X-Factor team. Whilenot quite an Omega level mutant, Marvel has hinted that Polaris has the potential to reach this level eventually. Sadly, she’d need to do exactly that to fully match her half-sister, Zala Dane. Zala is a powerful sorcerer who claims to be the daughter of Polaris' mother Suzanna Dane, though this has yet to be conclusively proved.
Zala Dane operates in the prehistoric jungle known as the Savage Land, possessing immense magical abilities. She can control minds, see the future, and wield eldritch energy, as well as having the ability to steal the powers of others. A priest of the godlike Petrified Man, Zala is able to summon her patron deity by sacrificing a mortal in his place.

Not every X-Men hero is a mutant - in fact, some of their most powerful members are aliens, androids and superhumans who believe in the mutant cause.
1Xavier Is a Skilled Psychic, But His Step-Brother Juggernaut Is Unstoppable
In 2025, Juggernaut Is the X-Men Hero and Xavier the Villain
There are few sibling rivalries in Marvel lore more intense than Charles Xavier and Cain Marko. After the death of Xavier’s father, his mother Sharon remarried, bringing Kurt Marko and his violent son into Xavier’s life. Kurt’s respect for Xavier angered Cain, turning him into Xavier’s childhood tormentor. Later in life, Xavier’s X-gene activated, giving him incredible telepathic power which allows him to read and control minds, as well as limited telekinetic abilities (though neither are Omega level.)
However, Cain Marko’s life took a very different path.Cain became a superhuman after stealing a mystic artifact known as the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak, connecting him to a demonic god of destruction. As long as he caused enough chaos, Cyttorakgranted Juggernaut a range of powersincluding immense strength and durability, self-healing armor that could block psychic attacks, and magic momentum which means that once he starts running, no force on Earth can stop him, including the Hulk, who he’s clashed with on many occasions.
X-Men’s Most Powerful Hero Officially Named by Marvel
After years of developing their abilities, Marvel has officially named one X-Men hero the team’s most powerful member, aka the Master of Mutation.
Over the years, Marko has managed to escape Cyttorak’s control, finding a way to access his powers without his demonic patron influencing his mind. He’s also become sympathetic to the mutant cause, joining the X-Men during the Krakoan Era and currently serving on Cyclops' team in Jed MacKay and Clayton Cowles' ongoingX-Menseries. Sadly, the Krakoan Era saw Xavier ultimately betray his students, meaning that in current canon, it’s Xavier who’s seen as the villain while Juggernaut is a respected hero.
