She had weight-loss surgery once before and went on to gain back much of the weight. She recently posted photos before and after her first procedure, and the difference is shocking.
The beloved unscripted show focuses on the weight-loss journeys of Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton, but it also features several of their siblings, including44-year-old Amanda. By the time she made her television debut during1000-lb Sistersseason 4, Amanda hadalready gained back all the weight she lostafter her first bariatric surgery.
2017 & 2023
It’s not uncommon for gastric bypass patients to need revision surgery, and that’s what happened to Amanda. Her first surgery was in 2017, and she went in for revision surgery with a different doctor in March 2023. During1000-lb Sistersseason 6, Amanda weighed in at the doctor’s office and was disappointed to see the results. At her last weigh-in, Amanda weighed 299 pounds; at her most recent weigh-in,the scale read 268 pounds. Amanda has plateaued since her first surgery.

Her Knee Injury Set Her Back
Amanda’s weight-loss plateauwas the direct result of an injury. While stepping off a swing set at her local park, Amanda injured her knee. She thought nothing of it at first but was later surprised to find out she needed surgery. Being unable to move around muchmade it impossible for Amanda to lose weight. Despite the setback, the1000-lb Sistersstar is determined and got back on track in pursuit of her health and fitness goals.

WhileAmanda’s current progress had stalled out, her 2017 surgery was a much more dramatic success.Amandarecently posted some flashback photos to her Instagram. One photo is of Amanda before her first bypass surgery, and the other photo is of Amanda a year later. The1000-lb Sistersseason 6 starlooks like she lost half her body mass. “Flashback to the first time I had gastric bypass,” read Amanda’s caption. Hopefully, once she gets back on track, Amanda will have similar results after her second surgery.
