Amanda didn’t appear in the early seasons of1000-lb Sisters, because she was going through a divorce from her ex-husband, David Halterman. Amanda and David had four children together, who are all grown up now. After finding herself on her own, Amanda decided it was time to focus on self-improvement, including pursuing her health and fitness goals. After receiving bariatric surgery,Amanda lost a significant amount of weight.

While the other Slatons have struggled with their weight since childhood, Amanda was always the skinny one. It wasn’t until after she got married and had children that she started gaining weight. Shehad bariatric surgery for the first time over a decade ago, but put the weight back on. During1000-lb Sistersseason 5, Amanda announced that she’d be going in for a second bariatric surgery.
