Several storylines and conflicts are important to remember beforeChicago Medreturns for the second half of season 10. The youngestOne Chicagoshowwill be participating in a crossover on January 29, but first it will have two standalone episodes that will help tie up existing storylines and introduce new ones. Like most Dick Wolf Entertainment shows, the medical drama ended with several exciting cliffhangers that it is expected to address when it returns.
Chicago Med’s fall finale was designed to keep people talking, astwo major characters' fates were left up in the air, with one of them possibly near death. Audiences speculated about whether Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) would live after being attacked or ifChicago Med’sArcher was leaving the show. Archer is one ofSteven Weber’s best roles, and it will leave a large hole in theChicago Medseason 10 castif he leaves, especially if the worst happens to Sharon.

5Sharon’s Life Hangs In The Balance After An Attack In Her Office
She Was Fighting To Survive As The Credit Rolled
Sharon’s stalker storyline came to an explosive climax just before the final credits rolled. She thought the police had caught her stalker, but they had the wrong person, and the real stalker — the wife of a late patient who blamed Sharon for her partner’s death — broke into her office and held her at knifepoint. While Sharon was able to keep her attacker talking for a while, the woman eventually lost her temper and impulsively stabbed Sharon before feeling bad about it and begging her to wake up.
8 Biggest Questions After Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 8 That Need To Be Answered In 2025
When Chicago Med returns from its hiatus in January, it needs to answer several questions that were left open by its fall finale cliffhangers.
The final minutes of the hour were unforgettable television. Sharon appeared to be unconscious until Archer came to her office to deliver his letter of resignation. Afterward, Sharon used her last bit of strength to temporarily fight off her attacker and bang on her door to get Archer’s attention. However, it was too late because Archer was already in the elevator and the doors were closing. Thus,it is unclear whether he will return in time to help Sharon or if she will bleed out before help arrives.

4Archer Has Officially Resigned From Gaffney Medical (But May Change His Mind)
There Is Still No News On Whether He Is Leaving The Show
Archer appeared to be leavingChicago Med, but it’s possible he will change his mind. After being demoted to attending, he put his best foot forward and tried to be positive and accepting of Sharon’s decision, but told Hannah (Jessy Schram) privately that he couldn’t deal with not being the ED Chief anymore and thus wanted to resign. Despite Hannah encouraging him to sleep on his decision,he went to Sharon’s office and turned in his letter, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Archer will stick to his original plan.
ERdid a similar storyline with Dr. Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) resigning and then un-resigning after being passed over for ED Chief that may or may not point to what could happen with Archer.

Archer’s involvement with Sharon’s rescue could go either way. He might realize that if he wasn’t on staff at the hospital, Sharon wouldn’t have been rescued in time, and he may also be needed to help with her care once she is out of the attacker’s clutches. This could give him a renewed sense of purpose that allows him to remain at Gaffney. However, he might also feel that the lax security and increased violence among patients that led to this disaster are additional signs that he needs to move on.
3Lenox Is Now The Sole Person In Charge Of Gaffney Med’s Emergency Department
Archer was demoted after a prolonged battle with newcomer Caitlin Lenox (Sarah Ramos). Lenox is young, idealistic, and assertive, and her ideas for reform have not been popular with most of the staff, but Archer had a particularly difficult time dealing with her because he was expected to share the ED Chief duties with her and didn’t agree with any of her opinions. Thus,he waited until the right time to strike and try to get rid of her.
Depending on how she handles this crisis, Lenox could either repair her reputation with the staff or become even more disliked.

After Sharon overruled Archer’s objections to Lenox’s treatment plan for a comatose teenager, Archer blamed Lenox for the patient’s death on the operating table and sought her removal, threatening to quit if she wasn’t demoted. However, Sharon called Archer’s bluff by demoting him instead. This means that Lenox is solely responsible for ED decisions, and will be in charge when Sharon is brought in (assuming she lives long enough to be taken to the ED.). Depending on how she handles this crisis, Lenox could either repair her reputation with the staff or become even more disliked.
2Reese And Charles Reunited For The First Time Since Reese’s Leaving In Chicago Med Season 4
They Butted Heads Again, But That May Not Be The End Of Her Story
Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) returned in the fall finale for the first time since season 4, only to butt heads with Charles (Oliver Platt) againand cause a bigger rift between them. When Reese initially left, she was unhappy because she believed Charles allowed her father to die of a heart attack. When she became the firstformerChicago Medcharacter to return in season 10after her patient was admitted for a suspected drug overdose, she and Charles acted friendly toward one another, but it didn’t last.
Why Rachel DiPillo’s Sarah Reese Left Chicago Med In Season 4 (& Returned In Season 10)
Rachel Dipillo’s Sarah Reese was written out of Chicago Med at the beginning of season 4, but she returned in season 10, episode 8 for a reason.
Reese and Charles butted heads after Reese admitted she was giving the woman placebos instead of the anti-anxiety medication that she thought she was taking. Reese disagreed with Charles' assessment that her behavior was unethical and things came to a head when Charles admitted her patient to the hospital as a danger to herself. The two again exchanged heated words and Charles threw her out of the hospital. However, Reese may have other patients that visit Gaffney, so this may not be the end of her story.

1Sully’s Terminal Illness Is Set Up To Test Hannah & Mitchell’s Relationship
His Presence Has Been A Problem For The Couple Throughout Season 10
Chicago Med’sHannah and Mitchellhad a lot of problems thanks to the way Mitchell deals with his friend Scully’s behavior. Sully is an old friend from Mitchell’s (Luke Mitchell) old neighborhood that he used to get into trouble with as a teenager and who hasn’t outgrown his destructive tendencies. During the first half of season 10, Hannah and Mitchell broke up temporarily after Mitchell insisted on taking the fall for Sully beating up troublemaker Paveland Hannah disapproved.
The way Mitchell handles Sully’s terminal prognosis could create more conflict between him and Hannah, especially if he shuts her out or does anything questionable to try to extend Sully’s life.

The final straw for Mitchell was that Hannah told Sully what was going on so that Sully turned himself in, foiling Mitchell’s plan. While Hannah and Mitchell have gotten past that rough patch, another may be on the horizon. During the fall finale,Chicago Medrevealed that Sully’s cancer has progressed and he only has a few months left.
