Specifically,Ahsokais set duringthe New Republic era, but it takes place after otherStar Warsshows about this era, such asThe MandalorianandThe Book of Boba Fett. Because of that, brand-new information was revealed about this period inStar Wars. However,Ahsokamay have more critically revealed information about the very distant past. Ahsoka Season 2: Story, Updates, Everything We Know
Ahsoka season 2 is confirmed and has received exciting new story and filming updates. Here’s everything we know about the Star Wars project.
Peridea Is The Source Of Nightsister Magick
InAhsokaseason 1, Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano finally found Ezra Bridger, who had been missing since theStar Wars Rebelsfinale. It became quite clear why Ezra was so difficult to track down, though, as he was on the distant, mysterious planet of Peridea, which was outside the mainStar Warsuniverse. This planet was so much more than the location of Ezra andGrand Admiral Thrawn, though. Rather,Peridea was revealed to be the very source of the Nightsisters' Magick.
Ahsoka’s Great Mothers Explained: Thrawn Connection, Dark Magick Powers & Star Wars History
The Great Mothers in Ahsoka are mysteriously allied with Thrawn and are coming to the galaxy. But who are they can what can they do?
Since their introduction inStar Wars: The Clone Wars, it was clear that, despite being Force-users, the Nightsisters were quite distinct from the Jedi and the Sith. This was especially thrilling, as it meant thatStar Warswas exploring brand-new groups of Force-users that went beyond this binary. However, the Nightsisters remained quite mysterious even after their multiple story arcs inThe Clone Wars. In particular, it was unclear what distinguished the Nightsisters' use of the Force from the ways in which the Jedi and Sith used the Force—although it was clear they did.

Specifically, in light of all that was uncovered inAhsokaseason 1, it seemsthe Nightsisters' Force abilities may stem from an entirely separateStar Warsgalaxy. This could certainly explain why the Nightsisters had such a unique connection to the Force and why their Force powers are so distinct from the otherStar WarsForce abilities, from reanimating corpses to full-blown possession. With Ahsoka and Sabine now on Peridea following theAhsokaseason 1 finale, the unique features of the Force in this new galaxy could be revealed.

The Ahsoka finale brings the story to a triumphant close, with subtle reveals that promise great things for Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan and Thrawn.
Ahsoka’s Finale Teased Secrets Of The Mortis Gods
In addition to the revelation that the Nightsisters' Magick has deep ties to Peridea,Ahsokaseason 1 hinted at the possible return ofthe Mortis Gods. The introduction of the Mortis Gods was one of the most significant updates to theStar Warsfranchise inThe Clone Wars, as these Gods represented major changes to the Force. Specifically, on the planet Mortis, the Father, the Son, and the Daughter were revealed to be embodiments of the Force, with the Son representing the dark side, the Daughter representing the light, and the Father keeping balance.
Ahsokaseason 1 hinted at the possible return of the Mortis Gods.

Unfortunately, at the end of the Mortis Gods arc inThe Clone Wars—which also saw the death of all three Mortis Gods—Ahsoka, Anakin Skywalker, and Obi-Wan Kenobi all had their memories wiped. Yet, it seems there is another who knows something about the Mortis Gods, asAhsokarevealed that Baylan Skoll was on a hunt for the Mortis Gods. TheAhsokashow also revealed major Mortis God iconography on the planet of Peridea, in the form of massive statues upon which Baylan stood.
Baylan Believes This Is Where The War Between Light & Dark Began
This connection to the Mortis Gods (and the Nightsisters Magick) on Peridea could have monumental implications not only forAhsokaseason 2 but also for all ofStar Warsmoving forward. Even inThe Clone Wars, the Mortis Gods raised questions about how the Force really functioned and what ‘balance’ truly meant. Although the Jedi had long spoken of balance, specifically regardingthe Chosen One prophecyand the notion that Anakin Skywalker was meant to bring balance to the Force by destroying the Sith, the exact definition of balance wasn’t clear.
The Mortis Gods raised questions about how the Force really functioned and what ‘balance’ truly meant.

Presumably, true balance would mean maintaining the light and the dark in equal measure, and the Mortis Gods seemed to reinforce that. After all, rather than squashing the Son, the Father held both the Daughter and the Son in the balance, making sure neither overpowered the other. Of course, as the embodiment of the light side, the Daughter never sought such power, while the Son did. Even so, though, this suggests that maybe the Jedi got this wrong to an extent; balance theoretically should be keeping the dark side from overpowering the light but not snuffing it out entirely.
This would also track with the logic that the Force itself ensures this balance, given that when the dark rises, the light rises to meet it (and vice versa). In fact, Luke Skywalker himself says as much inStar Wars: The Last Jedi. In light of that,Ahsokaseason 2 could unlock how the Force truly works in terms of balance, which, for one, could have massive implications for the role of the Jedi in the galaxy.

Of course, Baylan Skoll’s role inAhsokaseason 2 remains unclear, as, tragically, Baylan Skoll actor Ray Stevenson sadly died afterAhsokaseason 1. It isn’t yet clear whetherStar Warswill recast this role or write the character out in some way. If Baylan is written out ofAhsokaseason 2, though, the exploration of the Mortis Gods and Peridea’s unique connection to the Force could be continued by his apprentice, Shin Hati.
If Baylan Skoll, Shin Hati, or even Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano uncover this history of the dark and the light side of the Force, it could truly change the future ofStar Wars. In fact, this is particularly interesting given Rey’s upcomingStar Warsmovie, which will very likely see Rey establishing a brand-new Jedi Order. Undoubtedly, countless secrets are going to be revealed inAhsokaseason 2, but it’s quite possible that the very nature of the Force inStar Warscould be among them.
