There are tons of Holobytes inHyper Light Drifter, and being familiar with them all is really helpful for buildcrafting as each new run begins. With all the different types and rarities of Holobyte, it can be tricky to know which will be most beneficial for any one build. Until the library is added to the game, likely with Pherus Bit in the Outpost, players will need to keep track of existing Holobytes and their effects on their own.
Holobytes are the most essential piece to any loadout inHyper Light Breaker. They act like boons fromHades, and serve to make each run unique. Along with the weapons found across the map and in the stores of the Outpost,Holobytes determine the power of the Breaker and can make or break a boss fight. Each Holobyte has a certain rarity, although just because something is a higher rarity doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s stronger.

All White Holobytes
The Most Common Holobyte Rarity, With Some Pretty Powerful Buffs
As players start out on their first Cycles inHyper Light Breaker,White Holobytes are going to be the first they run into. These Holobytes offer relatively neutral buffslike decreased reload speed, increased Rail fire rate, and extra damage. While on their own they’re nothing to write home about, a well-chosen White Holobyte can really enhance a build. Here are all the White Holobytes currently in the game:
If the player isn’t wearing armor, gain 25% Blade DMG.
Materials Processor
Gain stacking 0.25% Blade DMG every time a Material is collected. (Starts at 0)
Riposte Flare
Gain 5% DMG to Blade attacks for 3 seconds after parrying.
Curved Grip
Gain increased attack speed on Blades for 3 seconds after parrying.
Refined Edge
Increase Blade DMG by 5% after consecutive melee combo hits. Resets after combo.
Dormant Hilt
There is a chance to reset Blade Special cooldown after hitting with a charged Blade attack.
The first set of Holobytes all increase Blade efficiency. Some do this by increasing the damage of a certain type of Blade, while others rely on parrying or other combat mechanics to function. The best Blade Holobytes are other colors, butsome of the white Blade Holobytes, like Materials Processor, ramp the longer the run continues, allowing them to scale well over time.Like the White Blade Holobytes, there are a few White Rail Holobytes:

Gain Battery after Staggering an enemy.
Steady Shot
While aiming, the DMG of the next Rail shot increases the longer it’s held.
Blood Battery
Increase Battery capacity by 5 for every 25 Bright Blood in-hand.
The Rail Holobytes function much the same way as the Blade Holobyes do, offering bumps in damage based on Rail archetype and combat mechanics. These are useful on Rail-oriented characters like a Sniper Goro orGunslinger Vermillion build, and less useful on the more melee-focused characters like Warrior Lapis. Outside the Holobytes that directly affect the player’s Rail and Blade, there are Holobytes that have broader, but no less impactful, effects:

Effect
Danger Blood
For each section of the Danger Guage filled, gain 10% more Bright Blood.
Dusty Scanner
Whenever a piece of gear is picked up, there is a chance to gain an extra item.
Butcher’s Tool
Restore red HP after executing an enemy.
These Holobytes are unique in their effects, and can be some of the most game-changing when placed in the right build. For instance, Danger Blood makes some Blue Holobytes that scale off how much Bright Blood a player has even better. Others, like Butcher’s Tool, allow players to heal. This might not seem significant, but anyone who’s played the game knows how uncommon healing items and Holobytes really are, making this White-rarity Holobyte incredibly helpful.
All Blue Holobytes
13 Blue Holobytes; Some Are Upgrades Of White ‘Bytes, Others Are Unique
Like the White Holobytes,Blue Holobytes offer some relatively neutral buffs in terms of build compatibility. They’re more specific than most of the White Holobytes, allowing players to use them to narrow down their build’s intended functionality. Of these 13 ‘bytes, a few of them are must-picks for late game buildcrafting:
Piercing Shot
Rail shots pierce and deal 10% extra DMG per target Pierced.
Regain additional red HP when parrying.
Chaining Shot
Rail shots have a 35% chance to bounce to a nearby enemy.
Explosive Hilt
Charged Blade attacks cause enemies to explode after a short time.
Gain an extra pip of stamina. (Displayed under health bar.)

Become invincible for 2 seconds after taking damage.
Plasma Edge
Blade gains 25% bonus DMG per 150 Bright Blood in cache.
Plasma Powered
Rail gains 20% bonus DMG per 150 Bright Blood in cache.
Dash invincibility lasts 50% longer.
Marathon Pin
Gain stacking 2% Crit Chance after each killl, up to 10. Taking damge reduces this bonus by 2%.
Overclocked L2R
Increase reload speed.
The best ‘bytes on this list are by far Plasma Edge and Plasma Powered, with Chaining Shot coming in at a close second in terms of utility. The Plasma Holobytes offer something that many other ‘bytes don’t: they scale over time. Most Holobytes generally stay as useful as they are when they’re picked up.On the other hand,Plasma Powered and Plasma Edge improve throughout the run. With another ‘byte or affix on gear thatincreases Bright Blood gain, like Danger Blood, these Holobytes can scale up to pretty beefy levels, allowing players to even one-shot bosses with the right gear.
All Orange And Purple Holobytes
These Rare Holobytes Hit Hard
The rarest, and strongest, types of Holobytes are the Orange and Purple Holobytes. Even more so than Blue,Orange and Purple ‘bytes offer players scaling and highly impactful buffs, and should become the center of builds to maximise their utility. So far inHyper Light Breaker, there are 11 Orange Holobytes:
All projectiles are reflected back to their attacker while dashing.
Spiked Cleats
For every point of Stamina in the player’s Core Stat or added by another Holobyte, gain 10% increased DMG that stacks.
Devouring Bracers
Gain 30% DMG for 3 seconds after defeating an enemy.
The two most powerful ‘bytes in this list are the Blitz ‘bytes, offering a huge boost to stats while taking HP in exchange. For new players, this loss of HP is a huge handicap, but for players who haveupgraded their Core Statsand gotten some armor, a 35% reduction in HP isn’t too bad in exchange for an additional 200% DMG. Generally, these Holobytes hit hard, and combo well with othersto focus down a build. Purple Holobytes, on the other hand, widen their focus back out, allowing them to be almost universally useful:
Rarity Chip
Deal more DMG based on the rarities of other equipped Holobytes.
Micron Edge
Gain 10% Crit Chance and 50% Crit DMG.
There are only three Purple ‘bytes currently in the game, but they’re also some of the best. Critical Cuffs is a direct upgrade from the Orange Critical Ring, as it heals missing HP rather than just red HP, which is HP that’s recently been lost. Micron Edge offers a pretty significant boost to crit-based builds, allowing players to deal hundreds of damage per hit if they crit. No matter what build a player is running, they’re almost always going to want to be running at least one of these purple ‘bytes.

Hyper Light Breaker
Hyper Light Breaker is the follow-up to developer Heart Machine’s 2016 isometric action-adventure game, Hyper Light Drifter.
