Speaking of Grodd, Waid revealed the most frightening aspect of the crossover:Superman and Grodd will be switching bodies. Not only will this lead to some epic encounters, but emotional beats as Batman struggles to find a way to save his friend while a dangerous villain like Grodd control’s Superman’s body.

While Clark Kent Heads Back to Theaters, His Comic Counterpart is Going Ape

Since the Justice League reunited after the events of Absolute Power, the team has been bigger and stronger than ever. However, the League’s latest incarnation has been under attack by a sinister group of terrorists that call themselves Inferno. Inferno has been attacking areas vital to the world’s stability, like the Amazon Rainforest or the G20 summit. However, during their latest attack, the team finally caughtone of their members, who turned out to be Gorilla Grodd. But Grodd was just one piece of the puzzle as the rest of Inferno was revealed to be a time-displaced Legion of Doom.

Everyone always wonders what the worst case scenario is when someone like Superman goes rogue. And this very much is a worst-case scenario. Grodd isn’t just evil, he’s a tactical genius who has one of the most powerful telepathic minds in the DC Universe. To make matters even more dire, Waid’s confirmed that the residual energy left by Darkseid has made Grodd even more powerful. Put all that in the body of an indestructible Kryptonian, andthat spells serious trouble for the Justice League, especially if it means someone will have to make a call no one wants to make.

Will Batman Be Able to Protect His Friend?

Waid mentions that Grodd taking control of Superman is going to cause some friction. Batman is a close ally to Superman, and he’s only going to go so far. But other heroes, like Solovar, recognize that this is a serious threat, and they may want to make the decision Batman refuses to consider. Let’s face it, Superman’s body in the hands of Grodd is a universe-level threat. But if anyone can help Clark out of this situation, it’s the World’s Greatest Detective. Hopefully, by the time James Gunn’s film is in theaters,Supermanwill be done with this monkey business.
