Kofuns are ancient tombs you can explore inAssassin’s Creed Shadowsfor rare rewards, with the Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun containing a unique item for Yasuke. Once you find this Kofun, only Yasuke will be able to navigate it to reach the treasures deep within. With multiple puzzles and enemies blocking your path, you’ll need to use both brain and brawn to earn this Kofun’s reward.
There are a total of 10Kofuns inAC Shadows, with each holding unique rewards for either Yasuke or Naoe.Every Kofun contains a Legendary item, usually an extremely rare weapon that either protagonist can use throughout various quests. The Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun unlocks after you complete Act 1 of the story, restricting when you can enter its tomb for one of Yasuke’s Legendary items.

Where To Find The Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun
Search Around The Eastern Wilderness
The Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun islocated southeast of Azuchi, a larger settlement near the eastern borders of your map. This Kofun rests to the northeast of The Shimmering Fields and lies east across the water separating the city of Sakamoto from other regions. By traveling to the Suzuka Foothills, you should be able to find the Kofun eventually as you explore.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Takagi Kofun Walkthrough
The Takagi Kofun is found in Harima in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. You’ll be rewarded with the Death’s Bloom legendary Teppo for Yasuke.
Naoe cannot enter the Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun, soswitch to Yasuke once you find the tomb. As soon as you enter the Suzuka Foothills, you can spot the Kofun’s entrance at a small campsite near a tree. You may have to defeat some enemies in the area to start traveling down into the Kofun, but the majority of your foes will already be exploring the tomb’s depths.

How To Complete The Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun
Solve Puzzles And Use Ranged Weapons
As soon as you enter the Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun, you’ll see some enemies far away exploring the tomb.Enemies in this Kofun start far away, encouraging you to use a ranged weapon equipped on Yasuke to take out targets from afar. The narrow tunnels of this Kofun make melee combat difficult, so ranged weapons are almost necessary for getting past enemies.
Keep going forward through the Kofun at first, taking out enemies and smashing through obstacles. Eventually, you’ll come across a gap that’s too wide for Yasuke to cross, with two enemies on the other side. From here, turn right and travel down into the tunnels until you reach a room you can drop into.

This Kofun has secret rooms and treasures you may collect as you attempt to reach the end of the tomb. While these treasures are optional, they either have great items or enough currency tomake plenty of money inAC Shadows.
This room has a large, vertical crate you can move to help Yasuke cross another gap. As you move forward from that initial puzzle, you’ll find yourself in a larger room with another crate you can move. Your objective here is tomove the vertical crate into the right spot so Yasuke can jump onto a ledgeleading to other areas of the Kofun.

How To Solve The Broken Rubble Puzzle
After the first two rooms of vertical crate puzzles, you can turn right from a larger chamber to come across another area with a small gap. Two vertical crates at the bottom of this room can be arranged to help Yasuke cross, but they quickly lead into another room with a similar gap.Broken rubbles block Yasuke’s path forward across the second room’s gap, making it impossible to progress.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Uses One Gameplay Mechanic Better Than Ghost of Tsushima
Assassin’s Creed Shadows gets a lot right and, in many ways, beats Ghost of Tsushima. However, there’s one mechanic where it truly excels.
You need touse red vases from the first room to cause an explosion that destroys the second room’s rubbleto reach the Kofun’s end. To do this, follow these simple steps:

The tricky part of this puzzle comes with arranging every room’s crate at the right distance. If you put one crate too far away from where Yasuke needs to jump, he won’t be able to carry a red vase across the gaps to the rubble.Yasuke’s exploration options inAC Shadowshave their limitations in my experience, with his balance for platforming being chief among them in my experience.
Rewards From The Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun
Gain A Legendary Weapon For Yasuke
Once you destroy the broken rubble, you’ll reach the treasure room of the Kofun, where several enemies are waiting.Defeat the enemies in the last Kofun room to claim its rewardsfrom a golden chest. Looting the chest will award you with these items and bonuses:
TheLegendary weapon inAC Shadowsis the strongest reward here, acting as one of the strongest weapons Yasuke can use. With the Engraving also given through the Azuchi Ayotanyama Kofun, you can make the attacks with your Bow even better, focusing on ranged combat to overcome challenges. I’ve found that this Bow is incredibly useful for some missions where Yasuke can afford to be somewhat stealthy in his approach.

Earning Knowledge Points through different activities will help raise your Knowledge Rank. A higher Knowledge Rank unlocks new skills and abilities, making them worth farming from other Kofuns in the world.
Compared to other Kofus, this tomb shouldn’t take too long to overcome with Yasuke. Once you claim the main rewards from the Kofun, you canmove another vertical crate to the left of the Legendary item chest to open a path back outside, completing the area.

Don’t forget to loot everything you may before you leave, as there are some hidden chests scattered throughout the Kofun. When you gain every treasure from the Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun, you’ll have much stronger gear for Yasuke inAssassin’s Creed Shadows, allowing you to fight higher-level enemies that may have been impossible to defeat before.
