One of your first targets inAssassin’s Creed Shadowsis the Onryo/Shinbakufu member known as Wada Koretake. Through a series of missions, you’ll track him down to his home base and assassinate him as Naoe, using stealth and a powerful distraction - your allies fighting a pitched battle openly at the front gates. But the difficulties don’t end after you assassinate Wada: you’re suddenly called to the monk Mitsumune’s side. He’s got a group of the losing samurai cornered and tied up, and he plans on executing them where they stand.

This can be a difficult decision if you’re not playing onAC Shadows' canon mode, which makes all the major story choices for you. These soldiers are clearly guilty of a lot of atrocities, not the least of which were perpetrated against Mitsumune. Naoe can, of course, relate to that need for revenge. But at the same time, these men are defeated; they’re not going to have much more of an opportunity to do harm. This decisionaffects your relationship with your allies, and what content is available going forward, so it’s not one to be taken lightly.

What Happens If You Let Mitsumune Kill The Surrendering Soldiers?

Pros & Cons Of Letting Mitsumune Murder

The first option available to youallows Mitsumune to go ahead with the murder unopposed. If you give him the go-ahead, he’ll go ahead and do it, and the quest will end right there. You’ll likely never see Mitsumune again - many more hours into the game, I still haven’t seen him or his name pop up anywhere else.

However, not everyone agrees with this decision. Also with you during the mission is Yaya, a powerful ally in your quest thus far, although she’s in it for her own reasons at this point. If you know anything about Yaya, though, you know she’s all about redemption, and believes the noblest thing a person can do is forgive.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Shorter Length Is Great For The Series

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a significantly shorter game that its predecessors, and that’s an important step that’ll hugely benefit the series.

If you let Mitsumune kill the soldiers without objecting,Yaya will get upset and run away. You’ll never see her again, which means missing out on a certain questline a little later (see below). Yaya can be a powerful ally, which may be a consideration - you’ll probably want to keep her around.

Other than that, there are no special rewardsor long-term story consequences for letting Mitsumune kill the surrendering soldiers. You won’t have a chance to loot them, and it’s not like Mitsumune is paying you a premium for the privilege. You’ll just get the same old XP and mon, along with the privilege to move on inAssassin’s Creed Shadows' main campaign, which will proceed as normal. Only side content will be impacted by this choice.

What Happens If You Try To Stop Mitsumune & Side With Yaya?

Pros & Cons Of Stepping In

If you instead choose the other option,Naoe will object to Mitsumune killing the soldiers, pointing out the obvious: that they’ve already surrendered. However, that won’t actually stop Mitsumune from doing the killing - he’s already in position, and he’ll go ahead and finish them off anyway.

Yaya will run away, the quest will finish as normal, and you can move on with the story. There are no special rewards for objecting to Mitsumune killing the soldiersalone, but you may get something extra by continuing down this path.

Still,Yaya will remember that you objected to Mitsumune’s act of violence, and that counts for something. This will open up an entirely new quest - Yaya’s personal quest - which you can complete for another set of rewards.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Review: A Gorgeous Japan That Plays It Too Safe

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows is easy on the eyes, but a generally basic simulation, scant upgrades, and bland side activities weaken the effect.

More importantly, though, at the end of that questline (so long as you make the right choices),Yaya will join The League permanently, and become summonable in battle. By pressing L2/LT and one of the face buttons, you can call Yaya in to fight for you. She’ll show up and stay for a short time, dealing plenty of damage, but more importantly serving as a distraction and creating openings for Naoe to run away.

You can reassign the buttons used to summon your allies - as well as which playable character can summon them -at your Hideoutor any of the smaller Kakurega aroundAC Shadows' map.

In order to get Yaya to join you, you’ll still have to make all the right choices during her quest. Just remember toforgive everybodywhen given the chance, and she’ll agree to join your team in short order.

You Should Rebuke Mitsumune

Get Yaya On Your Side

Overall,it’s better to try and stop Mitsumune from killing the soldiers, even if it doesn’t actually change their fate. The simple explanation is that it opens up so much more content, allowing you to recruit an additional character, and officially unlocking the summon mechanic in combat. You can unlock it later via other characters, but still, the earlier the better.

There are really no special benefits to siding with Mitsumune, either, so unless you’re really keen on getting revenge, there’s no reason not to side with Yaya. It’s by far the best decision for yourAssassin’s Creed Shadowsplaythrough.
