The Painter’s Regret Treasure map can be found nearly immediately when you enter the Emerald Stair region inAvowed, but finding the treasure that goes with it might be a little harder. The Painter’s Regretis a nice reward, and if it doesn’t fit your build you can always sell it to upgrade something else in your kit. It’s one of the first collectibles you will be directed toward in this region, so it’ll be tempting to find right away.
Out of all thebuilds inAvowed, they can all use a boost to their statswhich the treasure from this clue can provide. You will potentially face a difficult enemy on the way,and it seems like it might be in a particularly difficult area. To get to the right location, you will want to go to the right places.

Painter’s Regret Clue Explained
Where You Want To Go
To find the clue, you will need to head right off the road when you see a house on top of a hillafter you come across the wizard. There is a canvas on the porch, so you will be able to confirm it’s the right house. When you get inside, interact with the canvas inside and you will get the treasure map.
Avowed Hits Impressive Steam Charts Milestone Before Official Release
Days before its release, Avowed has already hit a major milestone on Steam’s Top Sellers Chart, proving that the RPG already has a lot of fans.
The clue shows a fairly clear view of alarge bridge and a tower on a cliff. You will be able to see this in your wanderings pretty easily, but finding the exact right location is a little more difficult. I would go to Fior and at least trigger the main quest first, as if you have money you will have the chance to get some better gear before heading out. If you are not careful, there are some fairly difficult enemy camps near the spot where the treasure is located, so keep that in mind.

Painter’s Regret Treasure Chest Location
Where To Find The Treasure & Where Not To Go
Head to the west of Fior andgo toward the largest bridge on the map, above the intersection of both rivers. There are several difficult enemy camps along the river, but you can sprint past them. You are going to want to look for the waterfall right below the bridge and head toward it. Once there, there are a couple of different caves, but you will want to jump onto the ledge behind the center of the waterfall.
There is a location inside the same cave that will give you the option to travel to it. Do not go inside until you have leveled up. You will be facing theSteel Garrote inAvowedif you do, and it is a very difficult camp if you are not prepared. Leave it alone until you can return during a quest.

Once there, it is important to not go forward. This will be a mistake, especially if you head for this early in your time in the Emerald Stairs. Instead, head to the left and find the broken wall. These can be broken with an explosion, so send a grenade at it. You will see a new path open up that you can jump to. Jump toward it andfollow it around until you find an abandoned tent. The Painter’s Regret treasure will be waiting for you.
Painter’s Regret Rewards
The Trinket That You Went To All That Trouble For
The reward you earn is thePainter’s Brush Trinket. It comes with the following stats:
A Critical Eye
+5% Critical Hit Chance
It isworth 300 goldif you choose to sell it. I equipped it because part of mybuild inAvoweddepended on having a higher Critical Hit chance. I will likely swap it out sooner rather than later, but it is a nice boost while it lasts. I paired it with a ring thatdealt Poison damage when you dealt a Critical Hit, which increased the amount of elemental damage I was doing and allowed me to stay at a range when possible.
After you collect it, I would recommend heading back to Fior or at least to a camp or safe spot to save. Then you canhead back out on the main quest, or a different side quest. The enemies in the area are quite hard if you don’t have upgraded gear, sofinding better equipment is a priority, or you can upgrade yours if you find the right parts.

However, you will have a little extra cash or a boost to your stats with this new trinket found from the Painter’s Regret Treasure map inAvowed.
