Black Myth: Wukonghas a ton of bosses for you to beat, including Kang-Jin, an opponent you face twice in their human and dragon forms. Both Kang-Jin Loong and Kang-Jin Star are encountered in Chapter 3 as mandatory bosses that progress the story when defeated. Although they have similar attacks, you must be prepared for two different and challenging battles.

Kang-Jin Loong is one of the manyLoong bosses inBlack Myth: Wukongwho you run into first in Chapter 3. You won’t face off against Kang-Jin Star until later in the same Chapter, so the first fight should give you an idea of how to deal with the second. Despite their differences, both bosses have a variety of shared abilities that you can prepare for.

How To Prepare For Both Kang-Jin Bosses

Bring Items To Resist Shock

Both Kang-Jin Loong and Kang-Jin Star utilize lightning in their attacks to apply the Shock status effect to you. This negative ailment causes you tosuffermore damage from attacks while Shocked, making some strikes from either boss even more dangerous. You won’t want to be Shocked at any point by a Kang-Jin unless you have anupgraded Gourd inBlack Myth: Wukongthat can cure the condition with a sip.

How To Craft Medicine In Black Myth: Wukong

Medicines are unique elixirs you may craft for various stat boosts in Black Myth: Wukong, but only after you complete an NPC’s side quest.

The best way to deal with Shock is to bringShock-Quelling Powderto both boss fights. This consumable item can be bought for a cheap amount of Will and consumed to instantly cure the Shocked status as you fight. While you do have to find a window to eat this Powder during each battle, there should be enough time between either boss' recovery from attacks.

Another good way to prepare for Kang-Jin is tofind any gear that raises your Shock resistanceto prevent the condition from ever building up.Craft armor inBlack Myth: Wukongto raise this stat, but try not to sacrifice better physical defense as a result.

Celestial Medicine you can create with the NPC Xu Dog can give you permanent increases to your Shock Resistance stat without the need to wear specific armor.

Gather as many spells as you canbefore these boss fights against Kang-Jin, as some can be very useful against them. With the right transformation magic, you can delay any damage to your main health since any damage you take just reduces how long you are transformed. Sometransformations inBlack Myth: Wukongare better than others, so experiment to see which one might work best.

How To Defeat Kang-Jin Loong

Aim For The Head

Kang-Jin Loong is foundnear the Mirrormere Keeper’s Shrine, on the frozen lake along the Snowhill Path area in Chapter 3. This massive dragon is a slender beast who rarely stands grounded, flying through the air at great speeds. You need toattack it when it lingers close to the iceanduse the Immobilize spellto keep it there to deal heavy damage when you have enough Focus.

Black Myth: Wukong - How To Unlock Every Mysticism

Mysticisms are specific spells in Black Myth: Wukong, which you can unlock to alter the world, either to enhance your strength or disrupt enemies.

When you have the chance, aim for Kang-Jin Loong’s headto deal extra damage and stun the boss. Enough blows to the dragon’s skull will cause it to stagger, falling helpless on the ice and allowing you to deal damage for free. Use every heavy attack you can when this happens to make the fight faster inBlack Myth: Wukong.

Another good strategy for the Kang-Jin Loong fight is tosummon clones when the boss is stunnedto maximize your damage while the dragon is knocked down and vulnerable on the ice.

How To Counter

Lightning Fast Thrust

At the start of the boss fight, Kang-Jin Loong will fly up before charging straight at you in a thrusting attack using the dragon’s whole body.

This attack starts from far away, so you should be able to time a dodge right before the dragon reaches you.

Thunder Slam Combo

Kang-Jin Loong hovers low and tries to bite you twice, leaving bursts of AoE lightning after each snap of its jaws. Then, the boss slams its tail to the ground, also leaving another AoE burst.

Run toward the boss' tail, which remains on the ground during the first two bites. Then, dodge the final slam to avoid any damage.

Jaws Of Lightning

Plunging from the air, Kang-Jin Loong tries to bite you with AoE lightning attacks, but this time without a follow-up tail slam.

The AoE bursts are the same as before, so use the right timing to dodge each attack.

Lightning Storm

Kang-Jin Loong flies into the sky before roaring, unleashing multiple lightning strikes around the arena that all have large AoE bursts.

Run around the arena as fast as you can and avoid the telegraphed places where lightning will strike.

Protective Cyclone

When you are too close, Kang-Jin Loong creates a large cyclone of air around itself to push you back and deal a slight amount of damage.

If you see the boss start to fly in circles, run away to avoid this incoming attack.

Ice Breath

Kang-Jin Loong charges up energy in its mouth before spraying ice in a breath attack in a wide arc near itself.

This AoE only impacts areas to the mid and close ranges near the boss, so back up to avoid the Ice Breath’s radius.

The Lightning Storm attackwill not be used until the boss is at 50% or less health, so you have some time to adjust to other moves first. Try to use one of themany stances inBlack Myth: Wukongalong with a powerful weapon to deal damage to this foe fast. This way, you can deal enough damage to Kang-Jin Loong fast so they never get the chance to use any additional attacks.

How To Defeat Kang-Jin Star (Phase 1)

Avoid Grabs And Various Projectiles

Kang-Jin Star isfound on Turtle Island in Bitter Lake, an area discovered through Shrines deeper in Chapter 3. Unlike Kang-Jin Loong, the humanoid form of this bossuses projectiles and long-range attacksmore than physical strikes to damage you. A few tricky grab attacks can deal devastating injuries if you’re not careful though, so you need to be prepared for anything.

As you can see in the above video by YouTube creatorElbethium, Kang-Jin Star likes to fly out of reach just like their dragon form, making it hard to land hits. Just like with Kang-Jin Loong, you’llwant to use Immobilize against this boss when they are on the groundto form your window of attack. Heavy attacks spent with Focus also have a chance of stunning this boss, but not staggering them.

Lightning Bolts

Kang-Jin Star levitates into the air before shooting several small lightning orb projectiles at you.

Each lightning orb will target your last position, so dodge or run away from where you were when this attack starts.

Divine Thunder Grab

Charging electricity onto their hands, Kang-Jin Star will lunge forward at you, attempting to grab you and deal tons of damage.

Recognize when the boss starts charging lightning onto their hands, then dodge right before they are about to grab you to avoid any damage. Immediately strike back since the boss will take time to recover from this attack.

Electric Blade Combo

Kang-Jin Star swings their arms in up and down motions, leaving bursts of AoE lightning-like vertical blades wherever they aim.

Dodge backward to avoid the follow-up lightning from these rare physical strikes. Moving to the side or forward will get you caught in an AoE burst.

Lightning Rod

Rising into the air, Kang-Jin Star summons multiple lightning strikes that track you with a hint of electricity and a faint blue glow.

A marker will appear on you right before a bolt of lightning strikes. Use this to recognize the timing and perform a Perfect Dodge to avoid taking any damage.

Black Myth: Wukong - How To Find & Beat Yellow Loong (Secret Boss)

Yellow Loong is one of four Yaoguai King secret bosses in Black Myth: Wukong you can beat for rare rewards, but this electric warrior is hard to find.

Protective Lightning Orb

Kang-Jin Star rises into the air before surrounding itself in a lighting orb that slowly spreads out, damaging anything that gets caught in its electricity.

Dodge the initial burst of this move, then run far away from the boss to avoid taking damage from the spreading electricity.

Conductive Projectiles

Levitating once more, Kang-Jin Star conjures five lightning orbs around itself before shooting each of them at you one by one.

Each orb takes a moment before traveling through the air toward you. This gives you some time to guess when it will hit and perform a dodge with the right timing.

Dragon Slam

Kang-Jin Star transforms into a dragon wreathed in lightning before slamming their body onto the ground in a rare physical attack with an AoE burst.

This fast attack is hard to dodge, so be ready to roll quickly when you see the boss transform.

Dragon’s Thunder

Transforming into a lightning dragon, Kang-Jin Star calls down lightning similar to Kang-Jin Loong’s Lightning Storm attack.

Run in one direction to either side of the arena to avoid each lightning strike called down by the boss.

There are far more attacks in Kang-Jin Star’s arsenal than Kang-Jin Loong’s, making this one of thehardest bosses inBlack Myth: Wukongto adapt to. Thankfully, most of these moves are telegraphed in advance, so you just need topay attention to what the boss is doing. Stay patient enough to perform dodges at the right time to eventually bring Kang-Jin Star’s health to 50% for their second phase.

How To Defeat Kang-Jin Star (Phase 2)

Recognize Evolutions Of Previous Moves

When you injure Kang-Jin Star below half health, several of the boss' familiar attacks will gain new properties. These include new extensions to attacks you’ve already seen, which can lead to mistakes and perhaps even defeat. Only one new move is added to Kang-Jin Star’s arsenal, but it is similar to one you’ve seen already from the fight against the boss' dragon form.

Evolved Thunder Grab

An improved version of Divine Thunder Grab, Kang-Jin Star performs the same grab, but now hits you multiple times for unavoidable damage instead of just throwing you once.

Once again, watch for when Kang-Jin Star charges their arms with lightning before attempting to grab you. Dodge out of the boss' way at the last second to avoid being damaged greatly.

Evolved Projectiles

Kang-Jin Star performs a better version of Conductive Projectiles, where they summon multiple waves of three lightning orbs instead of one set of five.

Every wave of three lightning orbs comes at you at once, so dodge to only one side to avoid them. Do this multiple times for each wave of projectiles the boss summons.

Divine Lighting Strikes

Rising higher into the air than ever before, Kang-Jin Star turns into pure lightning and rains multiple spears of electricity from the sky onto you in a huge AoE attack.

This attack only strikes in one direction, so simply run until you are out of the AoE created by the boss.

Keep up the pressure whenever you can andbuild Focus during this phaseto deal heavy strikes to Kang-Jin Star. Try switching to Thrust Stance for more range on your staff to counter the frequency at which the boss flies during this phase. With enough aggression, you can eventually take down this boss once and for all.
