Captain America: Brave New World’s first reactions help set up expectations going into theMarvel Cinematic Universe’s new movie. Sam Wilson flies into theaters for the first time as Captain America this weekend. Following the success ofDeadpool & Wolverineis a hard task for theMCU’s 2025 movies. As the first to be released, all eyes turn to howCaptain America: Brave New World’s storywill deal with the expectations set for it. With many Hulk-related characters, Sam’s first big-screen Captain America adventure, and connections toEternalsand the X-Men, the MCU movie has a lot going for it.
On Twitter, the first reactions toCaptain America: Brave New Worldhave started to pour in, but despite the praise forthe cast of the new MCU movie,it seems like the film will not be a universal hit likeDeadpool & Wolverine, but more of a divisive project. The reactions vary greatly, alternating between comparing the Captain America film to beloved superhero movies likeThe Dark Knightand claiming the new MCU entry is dull and not fun at all. Check out some of the first reactions toCaptain America: Brave New Worldbelow:

ScreenRant’sAlex Leadbeaterwas not a fan of the Captain America movie, calling it “a dour thriller-lite afraid of saying anything.”
WongUpdateswas more excited aboutCaptain America: Brave New World, claiming “it’s a mix of [Captain America: The] Winter Soldier and The Dark Knight.”

Sean Chandlerhas mixed feelings, saying it is the most cohesive the MCU has been since 2019 but also calling the Leader a disappointing villain.
Cris Parkerthinks Anthony Mackie was great as Captain America and the serious tone worked, but the MCU movie felt empty.

SyntellsaysCaptain America: Brave New Worldhas phenomenal action sequences, but claims “there is something missing with the heart and soul of this project.”
Tamara Fuenteswas a fan of Sam Wilson and Joaquin Torres together, though she believes the movie gets muddled when it tries to set up future events for the MCU.

What The Captain America: Brave New World Reactions Mean
The MCU Movie Adds To The Multiverse Saga’s Divisive Reception
The Multiverse Saga has received its fair share of criticism, especially after Phase 3 of the MCU’s Infinity Saga featured the franchise at its best. Projects likeEternalsandSecret Invasion, on the movie and TV sides of the MCU, failed to connect with audiences. Based onCaptain America: Brave New World’s first reactions, it does not seem like the film will face as much of a negative reception as those projects. However, the new Captain America movie is also unlikely to live up to some of the MCU’s best movies, likeCaptain America: The Winter Soldier.
Every Sam Wilson MCU Appearance Before Captain America: Brave New World Ranked
With Captain America: Brave New World around the corner, a look back at Sam Wilson’s MCU journey so far sets up his arrival on Marvel’s biggest stage.
The action sequences and the movie’s main characters have been praised in pretty much every reaction. However, those who have seen the first MCU film of the year also highlight that it feels like something is missing and thatCaptain America: Brave New Worldcan feel dull. One of the key problems with the film seems to be its villain. The Leader was barely featured in the trailers for the MCU movie, with more focus on Red Hulk. All in all, the reactions point toa serviceable MCU movie that does not rise to the top of the franchise.

Our Take On The Captain America: Brave New World Reactions
The Captain America Franchise’s Ranking Will Likely Remain The Same
Based on the mixed reactions toCaptain America: Brave New World,I don’t think the film will be able to outclass Chris Evans' last two Captain America movies, and perhaps evenThe First Avenger. Anthony Mackie’s Marvel hero is now the face of what many consider to be the MCU’s best franchise/trilogy. As such, ifCaptain America: Brave New Worldis truly as dull as some of the reactions make it sound, I think it will not be able to live up to what came before from the franchise in the MCU, which I hope I’m wrong about.
