Moon Girl Has Created An Entire New Element

Lunellum is a powerful blend of carbonadium and mysterium

Moon Girl has consistently ranked as one of the most intelligent characters in the Marvel Universe, often out-ranking brilliant heroes like Iron Man, Black Panther, and even Reed Richards at times. The Champions hero Amadeus Cho once even called Lunella “the smartest person in the entire world,” an impressive compliment coming from the genius Hulk. InAvengers Academy,Moon Girl is taking a class taught by Shuri of Wakanda, another hyper-intelligent hero, learning about different Marvel metals:Krakoan mysterium, Wakandan vibranium, Soviet carbonadium, Weapon X’s adamantium, and the Asgardian uru. After noticing that Aaron’s Captain America shield breaks after being thrown by Kid Juggernaut in a “Fastball Special,” Lunella asks Shuri if she can help her on a project…

30 Smartest Characters In Marvel Comics, Ranked

Marvel Comics has always had super-geniuses leading the way as heroes and villains, and here are the smartest characters in the comics right now.

Captain America is truly shocked and appreciative when Lunella presents him with the epic new shield - complete with the American flag and badass flames that match Aaron’s tattoos - as a gift. Explaining the uniqueness of the shield,Moon Girl reveals that the new defensive and offensive weapon is crafted from a brand-new elementnamed by Shuri, Lunellum, after Lunella Lafayette herself. Combining the unbreakable but malleable carbonadium, a Russian-made knock-off of adamantium, and the incredible mysterium, a mutant-made metal that can deflect and harness magic, Lunellum is a truly special new alloy. Captain America’s experimentation at the hands of Alchemax gave him shielding superpowers, but now his majorly upgraded shield gives the young hero a powerful new weapon he can use against his enemies.

But Moon Girl’s anti-magic shield is a totally new upgrade

Steve Rogers was first seen with his iconic round Captain America shield in 1941’sCaptain America Comics#2, later revealed to have been created by metallurgist Myron MacLain using “Proto-Adamantium,” a metal stronger than adamantium or vibranium that has never been successfully recreated. Over the years Rogers has used a variety of different shields, including a vibranium shield gifted to him by the Black Panther, a pure adamantium shield, and an energy-based shield from Sharon Carter. While Iron Man has made an entire suit of armor from mysterium, and carbonadium has been used by both Omega Red and Squid Kid,there has never been a Captain America using a shield made from these metals, making this new Lunellum shield a truly one-of-a-kind piece of equipment.

Aaron Fischer is quickly growing into a formidableCaptain Americalegacy hero, and his new upgraded shield -developed by the brilliant and thoughtful Lunella Lafayette- will give him an even greater edge when battling against his vicious foes.
