Warning: Contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man chapter #176
Asa and the War Devil, Yoru, the protagonists ofChainsaw ManPart Two, while sharing the same body, have separate motivations that happen to go hand in hand: Asa wants to save Denji, and Yoru wants to defeat Chainsaw Man. The problem, however, is thatneither possesses the cataclysmic power needed to do so, at least until the most recent chapter #176 ofChainsaw Man, titled “Two Children”.

The only details being shared thus far concerning their abilities is that anything Asa and Yoru perceive as belonging to them can be made into a weapon, and the more guilt involved in its creation, the more powerful it will become. These rules were put on display when Asa turned her school uniform and apartment into swords, two of her strongest weapons throughout the story so far.
However, in an early flashback during the new chapter, Yoru reveals that the weapon she needs to defeat Chainsaw Man will require much more guilt than it took to make those swords. As the focus returns to their current battle with Chainsaw Man’s original form, she creates her ultimate weapon by sacrificing two of her most precious belongings, her children: the Tank and Gun Devils.

Chainsaw Man’s Asa is Now Powered By The Gun & Tank Devils
In Another Twist, The War Devil is the Mother of the Fearsome Gun Devil
There was a brief moment during the previous chapter ofChainsaw Manin whichAsa and Yoru seemed to be truly defeated, and not just in the context of their battle with Chainsaw Man, but on a fundamental level. The psychological roommates stood before their shared enemy armless, mouthless, and in grave danger of being erased from existence entirely.
Therefore, Yoru does what she feels she must to win, arming herself and Asa, literally, with her two children, Tank and Gun. This reveal ofYoru being the mother of the Gun Devil, one of the main antagonists of Part One, shakes the foundation ofChainsaw Man, while simultaneously confirming a few theories about the nature of the Four Horsemen devils.

Since the introduction of Makima in Part One, themes of abusive motherhood ran rampant throughout her characterization, and seemingly continue much more overtly in Yoru. By sacrificing her two children, she has weaponized them for her own selfish war, fueled entirely by ego.
The acquisition of these two weapons power up Asa and Yoru significantly, while alsotrivializing much of Part One’s conflict with the Gun Devil. A presence fearsome enough to drive much ofChainsaw Man’s early plot, its short appearance having one of the series' very best chapters dedicated to it, now resides on Asa and Yoru’s right arm. The left, holds the power of the Tank Devil, who has yet to make an appearance in the story, but from its name sounds extremely powerful.

Will Asa’s Powerups Be Enough To Defeat Chainsaw Man?
Pochita’s true form is the devil that is feared most by other devils. His most powerful ability is at odds with existence itself, and perhaps more importantly, he’s practically immortal. Unlike other devils, however,Chainsaw Man has another concern that far exceeds his desire for power or notoriety, and that is Denji. As seen in his fight with Makima in Part One, as soon as he was put in real danger, his focus shifted to saving Denji rather than continuing his fight.
Now, armed with weapons powerful enough to threaten The Hero of Hell,Asa and Yoru might be able to use this weakness of Chainsaw Man’s to their advantage. If Pochita is truly immortal, inflicting physical damage may not be enough to secure victory, no matter the strength Asa and Yoru have just gained. But if they can harm or incapacitate him in any way, Pochita may just throw in the towel in order to save Denji’s life. After all, he’s sacrificed himself already for Denji’s sake. There’s little to suggest he wouldn’t do so again.
While Pochita shifted focus to saving Denji during his fight with Makima, it was Power who eventually convinced him to reclaim his body. Without her, it’s unknown if Pochita has the ability to save Denji on his own.
Regardless of their plan, Asa and Yoru have just received the single biggest powerup in the entire series. Having been severe underdogs in their fight with the titular devil, the duo now have the opportunity to turn the tides of their war. Fans can rest assured that the upcoming chapters will likely feature some of the most intense combatChainsaw ManPart Two has to offer.
