Britt Baker was a fan ofCobra Kaiwhen she met Martin Kove at a convention in 2021. Baker suggested Kove appear on AEW’s flagship show,AEW Dynamite, with her. Martin joined Baker in a backstage promo onDynamite, and then appeared at ringside, instructing the AEW Women’s World Champion to show"no mercy"and finish her rival.Kove made Baker an honorary Cobra Kai member,and rumors began swirling that this would lead to Britt Baker getting a role inCobra Kai, whichBritt addressed in a 2023 interview withScreen Rant.
Britt did not appear inCobra Kaiseason 5, but she did attend theCobra Kaiseason 5 world premiere in Los Angeles in September 2022. In September 2023, Baker left AEW active duty for nearly a year to recover from injuries, later revealing she suffered a transient ischemic attack and was dealing with two herniated disks and an injured hip labrum.
