As much as CD Projekt Red wants to insist that it’s moving on fromCyberpunk 2077,the studio can’t help but return to the game to make it even more impressive. Already one of the most immersive role-playing games on the market, the studio is going the extra mile by adding some technical enhancements that will go a long way to making Night City look more realistic than ever before. Patch 2.13 features some fantastic tech that should appeal to PC players looking to take their game to the next level.
Posted to the officialCDPR blog,Patch 2.13 adds support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 with Frame Generation, an impressive piece of tech used to smooth out frame rates and push games to run slicker than ever. The update also adds support for Intel Xe Super Sampling 1.3, which will increase overall performance when used alongside advanced ray-tracing systems at 4K resolutions. Finally,PC players will now be able to activate both DLAA and DLSS Ray Reconstruction simultaneously, ensuring the Night City’s dynamic lighting looks more realistic than ever before.

What Does This Mean For Cyberpunk 2077?
Another Major Visual Upgrade
Patch 2.13 does include plenty of technical boosts for those who can run them, but the biggest addition is undoubtedly AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.The software enables certain GPUs to simulate additional frames, inserting them between two established frames to create a smoother experience. The tech isn’t perfect and it’s recommended that players who want to use the feature do so with a monitor that boasts a 120Hz refresh rate otherwise there could be some issues with frame syncing.
Being able to turn on both DLAA and DLSS Ray Reconstruction could bea major strain on one’s GPU, so anyone who wants to have both settings activated should be aware that it could result in some performance hiccups. Having said that, with the right setup, activating them both should result in a much sharper image at a higher resolution, all the better for taking inthe sights and sounds of Night City. Used alongside Intel Xe Super Sampling 1.3,Cyberpunk 2077should run especially smoothly at 4K resolutions, even with plenty of action happening on screen.

What new feature should Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel include?
CD Projekt Red North America is currently at work on a sequel toCyberpunk 2077, withPhanton Libertydirector Gabe Amatangelo leading the charge on the follow-up. Recent reports have indicated the team is looking to incorporate multiplayer in the sequel, an understandable decision given the popularity of similar open-world sandboxGrand Theft Auto V. Beyond this being a poor choice, as it takes away from the player-driven focus of the campaign, I’d like to see an improvement on the romantic storylines by offering more things to do with these characters than scripted cutscenes.

Cyberpunk 2077has come a long waysince its disastrous launch in 2020, and it’s great to see CD Projekt Red continuing to support it years after its release. The studio is currently kicking off full-scale development on its next game,The Witcher 4, butNight City will return.A sequel, which is codenamed Project Orion, is in the early stages of pre-production, so players can rest easy knowing their futuristic adventures haven’t yet come to an end.
