A dark theory aboutThe White Lotusseason 3 could ruin one of the show’s sweetest relationships. Thecast ofThe White Lotusseason 3follows in its predecessors' footsteps in that many of the characters are simply unlikable. While there are some the audience can root for, even those have deep-rooted issues that makeThe White Lotusso compelling as a character-driven exploration of several different themes. By the time ofThe White Lotusseason 3, episode 4’s ending, though, two undeniably likable characters remain.
The characters in question are Mook and Gaitok, who are shown to have an incredibly sweet dynamic. AsThe White Lotus' Songkranand Full-Moon Party gets underway, Gaitok and Mook are shown to become closer than ever. Gaitok’s feelings for Mook are made clear, and it is evident that the latter also cares for the former in a lot of ways. However, as the looming disaster ofThe White Lotusseason 3’s unfortunate victimgrows closer, one theory hints that Gaitok and Mook’s relationship is being set up for a tragic end.
Mook Was Involved In The White Lotus Season 3’s Resort Robbery – Theory Explained
Could Mook Be A Secret Conspirator?
This theory was first formulated afterThe White Lotusseason 3, episode 3, and insisted that Mook is somehow involved in the robbery of the titular hotel.The White Lotusseason 3, episode 2 saw the hotel’s store robbed by masked assailants, resulting in Gaitok being knocked out and leading to his developments in episodes 3 and 4 that saw him obtain a gun for extra security. Although the gun being stolen now makes Gaitok’s job even more difficult, the robbery itself has been theorized to have been planned by Mook. After all, Mook is more aware of Gaitok’s personality than anyone.
If Mook wishes to see the world, helping people rob a high-end resort to fund this excursion makes sense…
She could have told Valentin - who is also heavily suspected to have been involved in the robbery - how best to distract the security guard. The theory claims that Mook would do this as a means of leaving Thailand and her employ for greener pastures.Mook has been shown to somewhat desire a better life than what Gaitok can offer her, as evidenced by her words about Sritala’s bodyguards, their exciting jobs, and their tendency to travel the world earlier in the season. If Mook wishes to see the world, helping people rob a high-end resort to fund this excursion makes sense.
The White Lotus Is Not Usually A Show That Has Happy Endings
Another hint thatThe White Lotusseason 3 could feature a dark twist for Gaitok and Mook is simply how sweet their dynamic has been so far. Gaitok is an incredibly kind man who genuinely cares about Mook and wishes for a romantic future with her, and Mook - despite not outwardly showcasing that his feelings are reciprocated - is still kind to him. It seems that both want what is best for the other person, yet this is not a storyline that fits well intoThe White Lotus' established formula.
SinceThe White Lotusseason 1’s ending, it became clear that the show was content to explore unlikable characters and their issues. Even the most likable of characters in the show often make bad decisions or have issues that affect their everyday lives. Mook and Gaitok have not necessarily been shown to emulate this yet, with every single one of their interactions being nothing other than heartwarming and lovely. KnowingThe White Lotus, this is sure to end soon.
One way in which this sweet relationship would come crashing down is if it was revealed that the aforementioned Mook theory is true. If she is revealed to be someone who is conspiring against the titular resort to get a better life for herself,it makes too much sense that Mook would manipulate Gaitok to achieve her desired goal.This would be suitably heartbreaking for both us audience members and Gaitok as it would invalidate their entire connection by proving Mook used kindness and Gaitok’s feelings for her as a means to a dark end.
Why Would Mook Be Working With Valentin & His Friends Against The Resort?

If this theory were to come true, the one burning question that would need to be answered is why Mook is working against The White Lotus at all. As I have alluded to, it has already been implied that Valentin and his friends were the masterminds behind the robbery inThe White Lotusseason 3, episode 2, begging the question of where Mook fits into things. She could have told Valentin to distract Gaitok and told him how to do so, but this does not necessarily explain why she would do it.
The potential storyline about Mook wanting a better life is good enough motivation, but her links to Valentin have been nonexistent in the show thus far. The two have not been shown to interact once, but it could certainly be a big twist that they have a relationship or at least a mutual goal that they are planning in secret. If so,The White Lotusseason 3’s sweetest storyline is sure to implode sooner rather than later.
