The firstSuicide Squadwas not one of the most belovedDC Universefilms, although the extended franchise has worked hard to redeem several of the film’s characters in projects since, with another looking set to reappear in 2025. While themain characters ofThe Suicide Squad, James Gunn’s semi-sequel, semi-reboot, saw certain figures like Harley Quinn and Rick Flag used more meaningfully, other characters have not had this treatment.Fortunately, one of them will be appearing again, and sooner than expected.
With the DCU set to reboot the franchise, it seems that most of the characters who appeared in the previous DCEU will be reinvented in future films and series. However,Gunn has discussed Elseworldsprojects as well, which see different iterations of the characters, in projects likeThe BatmanandJoker. It seems that another disconnected project that Gunn has not talked about much will be returning soon and that it will bring with it a familiar version of one of theSuicide Squadcharacters.

The Character Has Not Appeared In The DCEU Since 2016
Harley Quinnwill return with season 5 on June 14, 2025 on Max, andthe new trailer for the show reveals that Enchantress will appear in the series. The trailer reveals several details about the new season of the show, including that it will see Harley and Poison Ivy travel to Metropolis, where new threats will await them. While the focus appears to be largely on Brainiac, the trailer for the new season does show that Enchantress may also play a fairly prominent role.
Many members of various versions of the Suicide Squad have appeared inHarley Quinn, and it makes sense that the series is adding another. With reinventions of characters like King Shark and Clayface, the series has gone a long way to reinvent and recontextualize many familiar comic book heroes and villains. With an eye for self-awareness, but a lot of love for the material it uses,Harley Quinncould even wind up being an excellent place to rehabilitate the image and perception of some less-loved DC characters.

The Humorous Tone Of The Series Provides A Great Opportunity To Build Affection For The Character
The animated series has created one of thebest versions of Harley Quinnyet, and there is hope that it can do the same for Enchantress.Cara Delevigne’s Enchantress was a crucial emotional point for Rick Flag’s story inSuicide Squad, although the execution of the character left something to be desired. Many found the scene of her at the end, possessed and dancing, to be strangely off-putting. While Enchantress has an excellent comic book history, little of her use in the film was satisfying.
WithHarley Quinn, this can be redeemed. From the trailer, this appears to be a similar iteration of Enchantress to theSuicide Squadversion, with a design that mostly matches. In all likelihood, the series will make several self-aware nods to the reception of the character previously before moving on with their own version. With this design and the humor and heart thatHarley Quinnhas brought to its series, as an affectionate parody of much of Batman’s lore, the series could do a great deal to improve Enchantress’s reputation in the public eye.

DC Recast: 5 Actors That Would Be Perfect as Harley Quinn
Fans love Margot Robbie’s version of Harley Quinn, but if she is recast in James Gunn’s DCU, these actors could take on the role.
Harley Quinnhas become one of DC’s most beloved series for a reason, and it makes sense that the show would include more characters from the DCEU in its run. With a great deal of self-awareness, re-examining more members of theSuicide Squadand its characters could be a fun anchor point for future installments in the series. With Enchantress entering the series in season 5, it remains to be seen how much bigger and more exciting this version of the DC Universe will become.

Suicide Squad
The Suicide Squad team is made up of villains, captured and kept in a secret prison, and offered reduced sentences if they participate in dangerous missions. In the tradition of continuity within DCEU films, the event comes in the wake of Superman’s death and the seclusion of Batman after the events that occurred in Batman V Superman. Agency head Amanda Waller, played by award-winning actress Viola Davis, is the one striking deals with the inmates of Belle Reve Prison. Heading “Task Force X” is Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag, alongside Will Smith’s Deadshot, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang, Jay Hernandez’s El Diablo, Adewale Akinnuoye’s Killer Croc, and Adam Beach’s Slipknot. Karen Fukuhara’s Katana also joins the mission to keep Rick safe from the villains. Jared Leto (Joker) and Ben Affleck (Batman) have smaller roles in David Ayer’sSuicide Squad, as does Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress.
