5 Things We Already Know About Doctor Odyssey Part 2

After an exciting Doctor Odyssey part 1, the midseason premiere is closer than ever. Fortunately, a lot has already been revealed about part 2.

ScreenRantinterviews stars Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, and Sean Teale about Episode 8’s cliffhanger, the show’s central relationship, and what to expectwhenDoctor Odysseyreturns.

ScreenRant: I hear that there may be a shark attack.

Joshua Jackson: Rumors are running rampant.

Sean Teale: I found that out when the script came and it was called “Shark Attack!” When it said “Shark Attack!” on the front page, I went, “Oh no,” and it’s an exclamation mark, so I knew it was bad, and there might be more than one.

Joshua Jackson: You opened up the first page, you’re like, “I wonder what happens this week?”

Sean Teale: Yeah, there’s a shark attack. There are multiple shark attacks, multiple serious injuries. So we start off with a banger. It’s relentless. And it is a two-parter. At the end of the mid-season [premiere], the stakes only get higher.

Given everything this cruise has been through so far, has the captain seen a shark attack before? Is he prepared?

Don Johnson: Well, we do manage it, but we learn a lot. The captain knows a lot of stuff about sharks.

Max And Tristan Will “Clash” When Doctor Odyssey Returns

“Max and Tristan are both the leads in their own stories, aren’t they, in their heads?”

We left off on a huge cliffhanger. Avery reveals that she’s pregnant and either Max or Tristan is the father. Where are their heads at when we come back in Episode 9?

Joshua Jackson: Confidence is running high.

Sean Teale: It is, oddly, between the two of them. Max and Tristan are both the leads in their own stories, aren’t they, in their heads? And so that’s going to be a clash, obviously. It’s interesting. We had some really fun scenes that subvert the very thing that we’re talking about. We managed to sort of flip things into a way that was combative without it being ridiculous. I really enjoyed it. It’s a fun segment.

Joshua Jackson: And we reveal some real depth and insight into the Tristan character that I think was quite beautiful.

The Door Is Still Open For Max, Avery, And Tristan’s Relationship In Doctor Odyssey

“It’s hard for us to make up our minds, our characters, because it’s so messy.”

There was talk a few episodes ago about all three of your characters being in a relationship…

Joshua Jackson: I’m too square.

Is the door closed on that for good? Or is there still an opportunity to explore that storyline?

Don Johnson: It’s the Odyssey, man.

Joshua Jackson: Are you asking if this is a pro-polyamory show? I would say probably the answer to that is yes.

Joshua Jackson: Literally.

Don Johnson: That’s what we love about the Odyssey.

Sean Teale: And I’d think Tristan’s capable of undoing his tikka masala crisp speech, if he wants to. [Laughs] If he wants to, he can revert and change his mind again. It’s hard for us to make up our minds, our characters, because it’s so messy. When we try to go down one route and everything shifts and we have to figure out how that makes us feel.
