Warning: Contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Daima episode #10.WhileDragon Ball Daimais largely divorced from the events ofDragon Ball Super, that doesn’t mean it never references it. The elements of the multiverse that were established inSuperare repeatedly brought up inDaima, and recent episodes even have brief cameos from Gowasu and the other Supreme Kais in the multiverse, thus firmly reestablishing the connection the two shows have in the widerDragon Ballfranchise.

Dragon Ball Daimahas made plenty of references toDragon Ball Super, and episode #10 is no different. There were plenty of major references to the lore ofDragon Ball Super, but in a smaller moment near the beginning of the episode,Dragon Ball Daimaepisode #10might have subtly set up a major joke fromDragon Ball Super. It’s another great show of synergy between the two anime, and with any luck, it won’t be the last moment like that fromDaima.

How Dragon Ball Daima Sets Up Bulma’s Best Joke From Super

The True Origin Of A Dragon Ball Super Joke Explained

InDragon Ball Super: Broly, after Frieza stole Earth’s Dragon Balls, it was revealed thatBulma has secretly been using the Dragon Balls for years to make herself look younger with minor cosmetic treatments, something that was seen in action inDragon Ball Super: Super Herowhen Bulma wasted two wishes on things she could have achieved with a little bit of work on her part. It was a great joke playing into the vanity Bulma often exhibited in the originalDragon Ball, and it was one of the best jokes to come out ofDragon Ball Super, by far.

Bulma’s inappropriate use of the Dragon Balls is a great joke, and it might have just been subtly set up inDragon Ball Daima. Episode #10 opened with Bulma marveling at how great her skin looked as a child, and as such,Dragon Ball Daimaepisode #10 might have shown how Bulma got the idea to use the Dragon Balls to make herself look younger. Bulma using such a serious situation to get such a selfish idea fits perfectly withDragon Ball’s humor, and overall, it’s great thatDaimafound the time to set up that joke, of all things.

Dragon Ball Daima Has The Best Way Of Bridging The Gap To Super

IfDragon Ball Daimadid just set up the Bulma joke fromDragon Ball Super, then it works as another great showing of howDaimabridges the gap toSuper. Even with how removed the two shows are from each other,Daimahas repeatedly referencedSuperwith scenes and dialogues that call forward to plot points fromSuper, and with that in mind,Dragon Ball Daimasetting up the joke of Bulma using the Dragon Balls to look younger is another excellent way of bridging the gap toDragon Ball Super.

WithDaimabeing the latest installment in the franchise and theDragon Ball Supermanga on indefinite hiatus, there’s no way of knowing whenSuperwill continue, if it even will, and because of that,Dragon Ball Daimarepeatedly incorporating elements ofDragon Ball Superinto its story is a great way of keepingDragon Ball Superrelevant while fans wait for a proper continuation. The wayDragon Ball Daimaset up Bulma’s mishandling of the Dragon Balls inDragon Ball Superis the latest example of that sort of great writing, and hopefully, it won’t be the last.
