Warning: Spoilers for Dragon Ball Daima, episode #10Dragon Ball Daimajust introduced a character whose power absolutely dwarfs that of any existing figure within the franchise’s lore, and that includesDragon Ball Super’s Grand Zeno. This new figure doesn’t seem to still be around, however, but he raises some serious questions about Grand Zeno.

Dragon Ball, of course, has often debated who the most powerful figure is. A number of godly beings have been revealed in the past, starting with Kami inDragon Ball, to Supreme Kai inDragon Ball Z, Beerus inBattle of Gods, and finally Grand Zeno, the supreme god above all, inDragon Ball Super. With the power to erase entire universes with the touch of a button, it seemed almost unimaginable that a character could emerge who would bestronger than Grand Zeno, and yetDaimahas managed to do just that with its new character, Rymus.

Rymus, the new strongest character in Dragon Ball.

Dragon Ball’s Newest Most Powerful Being Explained

Who is Rymus, Creator of the Universes?

Episode #10 ofDragon Ball Daimasaw the Supreme Kai recounting the origins of theDragon Ballmultiverse in a surprising way. According to the Supreme Kai, the Demon Realm existed long before the multiverse, andthe multiverse was only created when one absurdly powerful Majin, Rymus, was asked to create additional worlds. During the early days of the multiverse, travel between the Demon Realm and the various universes occurred freely, allowing races like the Glind (Supreme Kai’s race) and the Namekians to travel to other universes.

Little was revealed about Rymus, other than the fact that he was an absurdly powerful figure within the Demon Realm, and he dresses in a manner very similar toSuper’s Grand Zeno. To create universes from nothing certainly requires an extraordinary amount of power, and godly power inDragon Ballalways translates into incredible strength. It’s not clear what ultimately happened to Rymus, but Supreme Kai speaks of him as if he’s still around, acting as the highest authority across the universes.

What Does Rymus’s Existence Mean for Grand Zeno?

How Grand Zeno Factors in to Daima’s New Origin Story

It might seem like Rymus’s existence represents a continuity issue forDaimawithSuper, but that doesn’t have to be the case. WhileDragon Ball Super’s Grand Zeno was regarded as the god above all others, it’s possible that Zeno was appointed to rule over the multiverse in much the same way that the Kais were chosen to watch over the individual universes. It could also be that Zeno was Rymus’s successor, or that Zeno has always existed, and was the god of the Demon Realm before the other universes were created, at which time he took over ruling all these worlds as well.

Hopefully,Daimawill reveal more about Rymus and the origins of the multiverse, as well as how Grand Zeno factors into the equation.Dragon Ball Daimacertainly hasn’t been afraid to make sweeping changes toDragon Balllore, but it also has a responsibility to fit the new lore with the old.
