What Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Would Mean For Star Wars
Season 2 May Finally Be On The Way
TheStar Warsfranchise has been struggling in recent months. The Acolyte’s disappointing cancelationproved that the property does not equate to automatic success, as it was axed due to low viewership numbers. With Lucasfilm struggling to provide engaging content, it could be time for a return to the classics, which would explain McGregor’s renewed hopes for a follow-up season. LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy previously hinted that a quick return was unlikely, but McGregor’s “exploring” comment hints that the unlikely event has already happened.
Season 2 is still not officially in development and would still be years away from release.

Proven shows, includingObi-Wan, provide steady ground that can help the franchise recover in the wake of its recent failure. Disney is already pivoting back to live-action movies and animated content, rather than largely focusing on expensive live-action TV shows. For its shows, moving to proven properties is a clever move as Lucasfilm continues its reset. There are still many stories left from Obi-Wan’s life that could be told, including how he found Anakin’s lightsaber.Obi-Wan Kenobiseason 2can tell that story or invent an entirely new one.
Our Take On Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2
There Is Room In The Timeline, But It Is Risky
Hayden Christensen’s return is undoubtedly a boon fortheStar Warsfranchise, as his version of Anakin is controversial but still beloved. After all, there is a reason that his Anakin returned in bothAshokaandObi-Wanin quick succession. He suffered under poor direction in the prequels, but the actor remains devoted to his character. Bringing him back is only natural. The major concern is the timeline.
Every Star Wars TV Show Ranked From Worst To Best
The first Star Wars TV show released back in the 1980s - so how do they all compare, from live-action to animation, from Clone Wars to Skeleton Crew?
With 10 years left untilA New Hope, Obi-Wan’s journey is still not complete, butthere may not be much to explore. If he is taking part in multiple galactic adventures, it takes away from the narrative of his quiet retirement until Luke comes of age. If he stays on Tatooine, it would make some sense within the greater narrative, even if it risks hurting the impact and tragedy of his story. Revisiting him too often is both unnecessary and narratively threatening.Obi-Wan Kenobiseason 2 is a risky idea, but it could still work if done well.
