Arcaneseason 2 revealed the mysterious character of Singed to be called Dr. Reveck, also unveiling several aspects of his backstory that surround his ill daughter. The mystery of Dr. Reveck has long been an element of the show, from his shady dealings with Silco to thecliffhanger ending ofArcaneseason 1that saw him experimenting on more creatures. ThroughoutArcaneseason 2’s first three episodes, more strange scenes were included that hinted atArcane’s werewolf beast named Warwickbeing introduced thanks to Reveck, which came to fruition in Act II.
Arcaneseason 2, Act I’s endingsaw the final hint at Warwick’s creation being shown, with episode 4 detailing the wrathful beast’s first rampage. Dr. Reveck himself, however, remained a curious enigma throughout all of this. It was unclear what his motivations were for creating Warwick, and what his end goal truly was. That said, the motivations of Reveck - also known inArcaneby hisLeague of Legendsname Singed- were revealed in season 2, Act II.
Dr. Reveck’s Experimentations Led To Animal Mutations & The Creation Of Shimmer
Reveck Was Once A Revered Alchemist At Piltover’s Academy
Arcaneseason 2, Act II is the first time Singed is referred to as Dr. Reveck, brought about by an investigation of Caitlyn’s. Caitlyn discovers that an alchemist who was once part of Piltover’s academy, and unrivalled in his craft, was mysteriously dismissed for experimenting on animals. She reveals that this alchemist is Reveck, who was shown in flashbacks inArcaneseason 1 to be experimenting on animals when he met Viktor.
Reveck’s experiments eventually caught the attention of Silco. Silco hired Reveck and the two developed Shimmer, the drug that took hold of Zaun inArcaneseason 1 and is capable of massively altering one’s physical strength and durability. ThroughoutArcane’s entire first season and the first three episodes of its second season, Reveck’s motivations were shrouded in mystery, including his creation of Warwick - until now.
Dr. Reveck Created Shimmer To Save His Daughter
InArcaneseason 2, episode 5, Reveck reveals to Caitlyn and Ambessa the reason behind his experiments and augmentations: his ill daughter. He reveals that he has a secret room connected to his lab, one that houses a glass case in which his young daughter resides. It seems as though Reveck is keeping her in a kind of stasis, with the doctor revealing she has long been ill. Reveck reveals that all of his experiments have been conducted with the sole purpose of saving her.
From the animal experiments to the development of Shimmer and the creation of Warwick,Singed has simply been looking for a way to cheat death and save his daughter.Arcaneseason 2, episode 6 hints that Viktor has something to do with this also, with Reveck attempting to get the newly-crowned Machine Herald to combine his powers with what he calls the “Apex Shimmer” inside Warwick. If he does, Viktor’s powers could last and potentially save Reveck’s daughter inArcane, but whether this comes to fruition before the show’s ending remains to be seen after Act II’s massive cliffhanger.
