Despite the rumors of a highly anticipated Wriothesley rerun banner inGenshin Impact5.4, players should consider saving their Primogems and premium pulls for another character, who will likely rerun some time after Version 5.4.Currently, the action RPG by HoYoverse is in the middle of Version 5.3, an important patch that introduced the conclusion of the main Natlan story arcand added Citlali, Mavuika, and the Pyro Traveler as playable characters. The patch is also seeing the release ofLan Yan inGenshin Impact, a Liyue character who matches with the annual Lantern Rite Festival event in Version 5.3.

Even though there is still a lot of content to go through in the current update, some attention is already shifting toward Version 5.4 thanks to the start of the beta tests for the patch. With them, new information has been leaked. This includes details about the rumored battle tower event, which is expected to be extremely challenging, as well as the gameplay kit for Yumemizuki Mizuki, rumored to be a new 5-star Anemo character from Inazuma. The beta test leaks have also showcased the possiblecharacter banners inGenshin Impact5.4, which include Mizuki and some anticipated reruns.

Wriothesley May Finally Rerun In Genshin Impact 5.4

The Character Hasn’t Appeared In Banners Since His Debut In Version 4.1, On October 2023

The rumors are that, among the banners selected for the upcoming patch, Wriothesley is finally rerunning. HoYoverse has been criticized because it has never hosted a rerun for Wriothesley, despite the fact that he is one of the strongest Cryo characters in the game.Wriothesley was released in Version 4.1, back in October 2023, and has never appeared in banners since his debut, making him one of the most desired characters in the game. In fact, the mentions ofWriothesley’s rerun inGenshin Impact5.4are a reason for celebration, especially for players who missed him during his initial run.

Genshin Impact 5.4 Leaks: Yumemizuki Mizuki’s Kit Seems Completely Skippable

New leaks about Yumemizuki Mizuki’s gameplay kit in Genshin Impact 5.4 have emerged, showing why she may be an unreliable character to pull for.

With Wriothesley being absent from banners for over a year, players have been unable to obtain him, even though some activities in the game require Cryo characters. There have been other Cryo units running in banners, but Ayaka has been somewhat powercrept by Wriothesley, while Ganyu has also been absent from banners for a long time. There is no doubt that Wriothesley’s rumored rerun in Version 5.1 is extremely positive and should benefit several players, but some of them should consider skipping himand saving theirPrimogems inGenshin Impact5.4for another character who is bound to rerun soon.

The Geo Support Unit Is One Of The Best Characters In The Game

While it seems somewhat controversial to skip a highly anticipated Wriothesley rerun banner, one of the few truly usable Cryo characters in the game, I’ve set my mind on pulling for Xilonen in a future rerun banner. The 5-star Geo character is one of the many Natlan characters I skipped while saving my Primogems for Mavuika. The savings paid off as I was able to obtain the Pyro Archon and her signature weapon, A Thousand Blazing Suns. However, despite the joy and damage output that is brought to my team comps withMavuika inGenshin Impact, I have some regrets.

Nintendo Switch 2 Announcement Has Me Hopeful For Genshin Impact On The New Console

The announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 console for 2025 has renewed my hopes of seeing and playing Genshin Impact on a hybrid console.

Xilonen quickly established herself as one of the best support characters in the game, not only rivaling Kazuha due to her RES Shred but even surpassing him in some team comps. The 5-star Geo character from Natlan has an incredibly simple rotation and one that significantly weakens enemies for the rest of the party to tackle.Xilonen’s versatility as a support who works with nearly all elements with the exception of Anemo and Dendro makes her a one-of-a-kind character, andXilonen’s best build inGenshin Impactis not all too difficult to reach.

Genshin Impact’s Neuvillette looks serious in front of a blurred Nintendo Switch 2.

Xilonen’s healing and damage output scales off of DEF, but if players want to focus solely on her supporting capabilities, they only really need to level up her Elemental Skill, making her extremely usable even when her build isn’t complete.

Xilonen’s RES Shred is the strongest aspect of her kit and it works well without any major touches to her build or the need for more Constellations, but if players do invest in extra Constellation levels, Xilonen can become the strongest unit across various team comps. With her C1, Xilonen can provide extra interruption resistance to all her nearby allies in addition to increasing the duration of her Elemental Skill. Xilonen’s C2 makes her stand out even more, providing extra bonuses for characters once her Source Samples activate:

Genshin Impact’s Skirk looks back, against a blurred background featuring the All-Devouring Narwhal leaving a rift.

With these bonuses, team comps can become juggernauts. If a Mualani with 40,000 HP receives Xilonen’s C2 bonus, she’ll reach 58,000 HP, enhancing her damage output. A Cryo character like Wriothesley could have a much larger investment in CRIT Rate, as they would have a guaranteed 60% CRIT DMG, so the investment in the stat would be minimal. Of course, C2 Xilonen may be a struggle to obtain, but it shows how valuable she can become with the proper attention. Thanks to her RES Shred and possible stat bonuses, Xilonen will likely become a long-lasting support inGenshin Impact.

Wriothesley May Soon Become Obsolete In Genshin Impact

Skirk May Powercreep The Desired Cryo Character

In contrast, Wriothesley’s position as one of the strongest Cryo DPS units may not last as long. Despite being more recent, the Cryo character already disputes the throne with Ganyu, a Cryo DPS who was released in Version 1.2, in January 2021. Wriothesley is incredible, but he hasn’t powercrept Ganyu to the point that he is a must-have character.Instead, players should opt for him if they don’t have a reliable Cryo DPS. Even with his status, there is reason to believe that Wriothesley’s glory is reaching its end, and that’s thanks to the rumors aboutSkirk inGenshin Impact.

Genshin Impact: One Silly Farming Mechanic Should Be Deactivated

There is one silly and outdated farming mechanic in Genshin Impact that needs to be reevaluated by HoYoverse because of how limiting it can be.

The leaks about the mysterious character have shown that she may be a 5-star Cryo character. Given her power in the game’s lore, it’s also expected that Skirk will be a DPS unit, even if she doesn’t use a catalyst (which enables Cryo DMG through Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks). Skirk has the reputation of being a formidable swordswoman and seeing how much stronger she is than Childe, a Fatui Harbinger, it’s expected she will be a very powerful playable character who lives up to her in-lore status. Rumors say that Skirk will be released inGenshin Impact5.7.

Genshin Impact’s Ororon poses with his arm lifted.

If Skirk is released as soon as Version 5.7, she may immediately powercreep Wriothesley, whose rerun took too long to occur and now it seems like a risky move. As tempted as I am to obtain Wriothesley to fill the gap I have in terms of Cryo DMG, I’m considering the possibility of saving my Primogems to pull for Xilonen, who seems like a character with a longer shelf life. This may not be the correct move, especially because there are no rumors of when Xilonen will rerun inGenshin Impact, but it’s worth considering altogether.
