While it’s often light-hearted and the setup of a joke, a toxic trait between the couple, like lying, is uncharacteristic of their otherwise supportive and healthy dynamic. While it may seem like a small detail, it’s cruel that Sam uses her gift to lie to Jay. Jay is becoming increasingly outspoken about his inability to see ghosts, fearing that he’s left out, and Sam actualizes that by hiding things.
Jay needs to see the ghosts of Woodstone B&B to feel a sense of connection to his home.
In theGhostsseason 4 premiere, Sam and the other ghosts are looking for Isaac after he’s kidnapped by Patience. While searching underneath a willow tree,Jay is tasked with digging a sizable holeso that Sam and the ghosts can investigate. Despite his tiring efforts, Sam lies to Jay, saying it’s too bad she couldn’t find the other shovel so she could help. Alberta immediately calls Sam out for lying, knowing she threw the other shovel behind the shed. Ghosts Season 4 Will Change Things For Jay
While it could complicate the show’s premise, Jay needs to see theghosts of Woodstone B&Bto feel a sense of connection to his home, and Sam’s deceptive trend proves that. Even if Jay’s ghost vision is temporary, the ghosts could tell Jay that Sam has been deceiving him. Jay could use the intel to confront Sam, causing her to swear off the lies for good. It’s the least she can do since Jay is already left out of most of the house’s affairs. While it would compromise an ongoingGhostsgag, it could bring Sam and Jay even closer.
