Warning! Spoilers ahead for Ghosts season 4, episode 1.Ghostsseason 4 finally brings back a character who hasn’t been seen since the season 3 premiere, but it’s easy to miss. TheGhostsseason 4 premiereofficially introduces Patience (Mary Holland), who kidnaps Isaac Higgintoot (Brandon Scott Jones) in the season 3 finale. The outing focuses on Isaac coming to terms with their unresolved history, which resulted in Patience settling in the house to join the other spirits of the Woodstone B&B. The process required all the ghosts' hands on deck, including this forgotten soul — Crash.
ManyGhostsUS characters based onGhostsUKexist, including this long-forgotten greaser. The senseless character draws inspiration from one of Laurence Rickard’s characters fromGhostsUK, a co-creator of the original series who acts in two robust roles in the BBC series. In contrast, despite being an original spirit introduced inGhostsseason 1, the BBC character’s American counterpart seldom appears. The appearance of this ghost in the season 4 premiere could mean two things: Crash will make a splash inGhostsseason 4, or there was an opportunity to feature the character without giving them a real story.

Ghosts Season 4, Episode 1 Brings Back Crash
Crash Returned In Ghosts Season 4, Episode 1, “Patience”
In the premiere, “Patience,“Ghostsbrings back Crash. The ghost is a 1950s greaser who apparently dies after his head is cut off, although the details of Crash’s death haven’t fully been explored. He appears inGhostsseason 4, episode 1, when the Woodstone spirits form a human chain extending from the basement into the dirt to save Patience. Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) remarks that she will take Crash’s hand since he can’t sneeze. The quip is relevant since Isaac banished Patience to the dirt after sneezing and letting go of her hand hundreds of years ago.
How Every Ghosts Character Died, Explained
Every spirit in the CBS Ghosts series experienced a unique death that adds to the lore of the American version of the paranormal television series.
Why We Don’t See Crash As Much With The Woodstone Spirits In Ghosts
Crash Isn’t Utilized Like His UK Counterpart Humphrey
It’s not explicitly clear why Crash doesn’t appear more inGhosts. The sparse appearances don’t have an apparent connection to the actor, since several actors play the character on the show.Crash is portrayed by Hudson Thames in season 1and Alex Boniello thereafter. His appearances contrast with Crash’sGhostsUK Counterpart, Humphrey Bone, who appears in nearly every episode of the British series. It seems thatGhostschose not to utilize its headless character, finding a robust cast in Isaac, Hetty, Sass, Thor, and the otherghosts of Woodstone B&Binstead.
Hudson Thames plays Crash in theGhostspilot, Alex Bonielle plays Crash inGhostsseason 2, episode 19, “Ghost Father of the Bride,” and season 3, episode 1, “The Owl.”

Whatever the reason for Crash’s lack of screen time, the headless greaser is an underutilized character. InGhostsseason 1, Crash misplaces his head and looks for it for the rest of the season. Humphrey is often without his head inGhostsUK, but the character is included anyway, often as a head on the floor or on a table, and that’s part of the narrative. What’s disappointing is that while Crash’s body appeared in theGhostsseason 4 premiere, his head didn’t. Therefore, while it was fun to see the character, it sadly didn’t add anything to his story.
