One Hogwarts house was consistently neglected throughout theHarry Potterseries, but HBO’s TV remake has a chance to finally set things right after all these years. Of course, Gryffindor is the most important when it comes to the overall story since this is the house to which the primary characters belong. However, in the 17 years since the final book was released, the other Hogwarts houses have become all the more important in the hearts of fans who identify with their defining characteristics. This makes it even more necessary for theHarry Potterremake to bring attention to those who have long been neglected.
Perhaps the most exciting thing about theHarry PotterTV remakeis the promise that it will be a faithful adaptation of the book. The significant changes made by the Warner Bros movies will no longer be necessary since there will be more than enough time to get every detail of Harry’s story on screen. Additionally, the fact that there will be full seasons dedicated to eachHarry Potterbookmeansthe TV show can expand on some canon ideas and characters in ways even the novels didn’t. Hopefully, this means a little more attention to Hufflepuff and its students (past and present).

The Harry Potter Books & Movies Don’t Give Hufflepuff As Much Attention As The Other Houses
Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw Ate Up All The Attention
Hufflepuff was easily the most neglected Hogwarts house inHarry Potter. Naturally, Gryffindor got the most attention since this is the house to which the Golden Trio belonged. Slytherin essentially had an entire book dedicated to it, withHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secretsbeing all about the Heir of Slytherinand the secret chamber Salazar hid within the castle. Ravenclaw had some time to shine as well since the mystery of the diadem took Harry within the Ravenclaw common room inHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and we learned more about this founder’s story as a result.
Unfortunately, Hufflepuff received no such treatment. This is the only Hogwarts common room that Harry never explored in theHarry Potterbooks, and Helga Hufflepuff’s story was the only one that was really never touched on. Even the Hufflepuff Horcrux, the cup, was acquired in a way that required no further lore knowledge—Harry never had to learn anything about its significance as he did with the diadem. Overall, by the end of theHarry Potterseries, Hufflepuff feels very much like theextrasof Hogwarts Castle, which is disappointing considering the potential of the students who came from this house.

The video gameHarry Potter: Hogwarts Legacyallowed for the first detailed exploration of the Hufflepuff common room.
HBO’s Harry Potter Remake Needs To Put Hufflepuff On The Same Level As Ravenclaw & Slytherin
HBO’s Harry Potter TV Show Can Take More Than Just Harry’s Point Of View
One of thebenefits of theHarry PotterTV remakeis that HBO has a more complete look at the overall series. The story has been concluded for 17 years, and the fandom surrounding it has had decades to evolve. Screenwriters will approach the series knowing what aspects are important to audiences, and Hogwarts houses are among them. So, while theHarry Potterbooks and movies didn’t have much reason to pay Hufflepuff much attention, HBO’s TV remake is a different story.
We could potentially see Hogwarts through the eyes of characters like Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood, and Cedric Diggory, thus allowing an even playing field for each Hogwarts house to prove its importance to the overall story.

Not only does theHarry PotterTV show have the benefit of hindsight to motivate further exploration of Hufflepuff House, but its longer format also creates more opportunities to do so. With dozens of episodes planned, there are likely to be episodes that take the point of view of differentHarry Pottercharacters. We could potentially see Hogwarts through the eyes of characters like Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood, and Cedric Diggory, thus allowing an even playing field for each Hogwarts house to prove its importance to the overall story.
How HBO’s TV Show Can Finally Give Hogwarts' Most Underrated House A Chance To Shine
There Are Several Hufflepuff Characters That HBO’s Harry Potter TV Show Has Time To Explore
The best year for Hufflepuff in theHarry Potterbooks and movies wasGoblet of Fire. This was when the Goblet of Fire chose Cedric Diggory to be Hogwarts champion for the Triwizard Tournament—a rare moment of glory for this often ignored house (both in-world and out). Perhaps the most obvious way theHarry Potterremake could give Hufflepufftime to shine would be to take Cedric’s perspective for an episode in season 4. Through this character, we can see the Hufflepuff common room and gain a deeper understanding of the perspective of these underdogs.
Still, this shouldn’t be all. TheHarry Potterremake has a chance to reinforce Wizarding World lore by diving into the past. There could be flashback episodes dedicated to Nyphadora Tonks' time as a Hufflepuff student or perhaps Newt Scamander, another notable Hufflepuff. Or, HBO’s TV show couldtake things back even further by including a handful of episodes dedicated to the founders of Hogwarts. This would be a chance for audiences to see Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, Salazar Slytherin, and Godric Gryffindor in the flesh, with deeper exploration into each of their stories.
It’s important that those who identify with the qualities of a Hufflepuff feel represented by the series.
Ultimately, the possibilities for HBO’sHarry Potterremake are virtually limitless. The books created a foundation, but the lore and fandom have evolved all their own in the last 17 years. It’s important that those who identify with the qualities of a Hufflepuff feel represented by the series. After so many years of being overlooked,it’s time for the Hogwarts House of the loyal and hard-working to finally have a chance to shine.
