Dragon Ball Super Is Left in Good Hands

Toyotarou Has Proven Himself the Perfect Choice for Continuing the Series

Almost nine years after its debut,Dragon Ball Superwas put on an indefinite hiatus following the passing of Akira Toriyama. A rights dispute has kept the series in that state, thougha special one-shot chapter was released just this Februaryto fill out the latest physical volume. The chapter was packed with light-hearted action and gave shine to some underutilized characters, while paying respects to the legacy of theDragon Ballfranchise. If Toriyama’s decision to have Toyotarou inherit the series wasn’t enough to convince fans that he’s the right choice for the job,the latest chapter certainly will.

Dragon Ball Superremains inactive for the time being, but a lack of official confirmation about an ending is a good sign for the series' future. Though Akira Toriyama will no longer be around to oversee the project,it remains in the capable hands of the artist he chose for the job.
