Michael B. Jordan reveals details of his return to theMarvel Cinematic UniverseinBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever. The actor gives life to one of the most beloved villains in the franchise, Erik Killmonger. Even though his character died at the end of the first Black Panther film, Killmonger returned for a scene in the Ancestral Plane to offer some advice to Letitia Wright’s Shuri in the sequel. Given his long friendship with franchise director Ryan Coogler, Jordan could also return for more in theMCU’s confirmed Black Panther 3, perhaps knowing more about the script than inWakanda Forever.

Speaking withGQ,Michael B. Jordan opened up about not having read the wholeBlack Panther: Wakanda Foreverscriptand how the cast had Chadwick Boseman in mind while filming.

Jordan explained that he was getting ready to directCreed 3during the time he went in for his part as Kilmonger inBlack Panther Wakanda: Forever. According to the star, director Ryan Coogler kept the story of one of thebest MCU moviesclose to the vest for different reasons, so Jordan knew details about the sequence he was in.

He also spoke about the cast’s unity and how they all honored Chadwick Boseman’s memory after the Black Panther star’s tragic passing, saying, “We all did that movie for him.” Check out the full quote below:

Killmonger pointing at Black Panther before battle.

“Coming back to do [Black] Panther 2 after the tragedy of losing Chadwick [Boseman] was an extremely tough one. I was in like, pre-production for Creed 3, so I was like, right getting ready to go direct. At the time, I didn’t even read the whole script, so I didn’t know what the whole movie was about.

[Ryan] Coog[ler], yeah, he’s your own brother. He ain’t even let me read the script, you know? It was crazy. Nah, but he kept that pretty, pretty close to the vest for a lot of different reasons. So I was just as excited as everybody else. You know what I’m saying? To watch the movie at the end, to kind of see what he did with the whole thing, to be perfectly honest.

But it meant a lot to the cast. I think the short time I was there and, obviously, you know, the cast is extremely tight, and we all speak — it felt like we were all doing it for Chadwick. We did that movie for him.”

What Michael B. Jordan’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Comments Mean

Ryan Coogler’s Move Made Sense

Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverwas a very important movie for the MCU for many reasons. As Michael B. Jordan noted,Chadwick Boseman’s memory was honored beautifully by the movie’s cast. The actor gave life to T’Challa, the MCU’s first Black Panther, and the character’s fate after Boseman died in real life had to be addressed by the MCU film. That important storyline and others had to be kept secret for the film, so it is not that surprising that Jordan was not able to read the whole script.

10 Dead MCU Villains We Want To See Return In The Next Two Avengers Movies

Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars have the chance to bring back exciting villains that were gone too soon to join Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

Director Ryan Coogler likely did the same for most of thecast ofBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever. After all, the film had many secrets to keep in store, withthe biggest of them all being the reveal of T’Challa’s son, Toussaint. With the film and its job of honoring Chadwick Boseman’s Marvel legacy being such a special one, it makes sense that Coogler was trying to keep as many secrets close to the vest as possible. In the end, Jordan delivered an exciting performance as Killmonger, and the rest ofWakanda Forever’s script did not impact that at all.

How Michael B Jordon’s Black Panther 2 Comments Make The Movie Even Better

The Beloved Actor Is Extremely Talented

Michael B. Jordan’sBlack Panther: Wakanda Forevercomments make his role in the film even more impressive. The actoronly had access to what was happening in that one sequence Killmonger was in. As such, Jordan had no idea of the larger context of the movie and the specific journey that Letitia Wirght’s Shuri was on. After the death of her brother, T’Challa, Shuri would go on to become the MCU’s new Black Panther. Despite not being aware of what was happening in the rest of the movie, Jordan delivered the goods.

His acting as Killmonger wasas effective as the performance he brought to the first Black Panther movie. From the second he appeared onscreen, Jordan commanded the scene. However, despite his impactful presence, the actor made sure to keep Wright’s Shuri at the center of the action. After all, Killmonger was there to support Shuri’s journey. It is a similar role as the one the multiverse Spider-Men played in 2021’sSpider-Man: No Way Home, albeit shorter and much darker, as Killmonger is not a hero, and he knows it.

Jordan’s comments about the cast’s unity also makeBlack Panther: Wakanda Forevermore special. While that was what every fan assumed was going on behind the scenes, it is emotional to hear from a key player in the film about how much Chadwick Boseman was on everyone’s mind while shooting the project. T’Challa’s presence can be felt throughout the film, even though he does not physically appear. That isa testament to the cast and crew’s job of honoring Chadwick’s memory, which was handled beautifully.

Our Take On Michael B. Jordan’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Comments

The MCU Star Came Back With A Great Performance

Michael B. Jordan’s comments are unsurprising, but I like how the actor speaks about the Black Panther franchise cast’s unity. Chadwick Boseman’s death was incredibly tragic, andMarvel did a great job of honoring him withWakanda Foreverand making sure that T’Challa’s presence was felt throughout the film. Jordan’s comment about how the cast banded together to make the movie for the actor adds an extra layer to that. As for him not having access to the whole script, MCU projects often do that, and asBlack Panther: Wakanda Foreverwas filled with surprises, that was to be expected.
