The latest episode ofDaredevil: Born Againdetailed how Matt Murdock and Heather Glenn’s relationship is slowly falling apart, but the therapist makes an excellent point against him. After Foggy died in episode 1 of theMCUseries,Karen moved to San Francisco. It left Matt’s love life wide open, which is why he’s set up with Heather. The two hit it off and spent the first few episodes finding comfort in each other, helping Matt feel less alone than he had in a long time. However, their relationship has been inching towards a breaking point.

Things started to get rocky between the two when Matt started training as Daredevil again and their conflict has only intensified since.Heather is now dealing with the trauma ofkilling Muse in episode 7,while Matt has been distant while dealing with affairs as Daredevil. There’s also their conflicting stance on masked vigilantes, with Heather heavily opposed to them while Matt hides his Daredevil identity from her. Episode 8 highlighted how a big portion of their relationship is built on secrecy, which is never the formula for a lasting romance.

From Heather’s Perspective, Matt’s Behavior In Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8 Is Odd

Everything seemed to be going smoothly for Matt and Heather until episode 8. Heather seemed to go especially hard on Matt in this episode as she claims he’s become distant in their relationship. Of course to the viewer, they know that Matt’s done nothing but save lives as Daredevil and his time away has been necessary. However, Heather’s perspective is completely valid considering how little she knows. She has no idea about Matt’s secret identity, and as a result, feels like his odd behavior is coming out of nowhere.

Daredevil: Born Again’s Shocking Twist Explained: Why [SPOILER] Had Foggy Killed

Daredevil: Born Again episode 8 ends with a massive twist for the show, revealing that a certain character had Foggy Nelson killed in episode 1.

As X usermdsmurdockpoints out in their thread, all Heather knows is that her boyfriend is checking out on her, comes home with inexplicable injuries, and has an obsession with the mayor. It all comes to a head at Fisk’s gala when Matt seems dead-set on confronting the mayor in public while unable to provide her any context. While her stance on masked vigilantes isn’t exactly fair, she has come to her conclusions with the context that she has. Of course, it’ll largely differ from the viewer’s opinions aswe have context from four seasons of Daredevil content.

I Wouldn’t Be Surprised If Heather Breaks Up With Matt In Daredevil: Born Again’s Finale

Episode 9 of season 1 is going to set up the next season, and Matt and Heather will likely take a big step in their relationship. It’s possible thatMatt will come clean about his identityto try and win Heather’s trust back, especially since he can’t hide his complex ties with Fisk now that he’s taken a bullet for the mayor in public. However, a breakup seems like the direction that the show is heading in, asMatt missed the perfect chance to expose his identity when saving Heather from Muse.

Even if Heather does find out that Matt is Daredevil, it might not even help save their relationship. In her eyes, her boyfriend just took a bullet for the mayor in some seemingly reckless heroics. With everything she’s been through recently and the trauma she has,she probably won’t want to deal with the dangers of the vigilante life. It shouldn’t be a surprise if the pair break up inDaredevil: Born Again’s season finale, and it’ll likely set up their relationship to come back in season 2 stronger than ever.
