Black Cloverhas progressively become one of the manga I most eagerly anticipate, and, much likeBerserk, that means I have to wait months for new chapters. However, with each new installment, I grow progressively more excited at the prospect of it being animated for people who prefer to see the series on the screen to experience similar levels of joy.
But then, with each passing day going bywithout proper confirmation ofBlack Cloverseason 5, I grow more frustrated at how the series is continuously left high and dry before the best arc of the series.Black Cloverhalting its anime adaptation after June 28, 2025, with no substantial update yet for season 5, makes for a painful and ambiguous wait for fans of the series like myself.

Anime fans flocked toBlack Cloverand have enjoyed its consistently strong, low-filler 170 episodes reaching through the end of the Heart Kingdom Joint Struggle Arc. Viewers witnessed Asta, a boy unloved by magic, begin carving a legend for himself after receiving the five-leaf clover grimoire and leveling the playing field using anti-magic, pure grit, and brute strength.
Black Clover’s Anime Stopped Before Adapting the Best Arc
The Spade Kingdom Raid Arc Would Look Phenomenal Animated for the Screen
With the final episode ofBlack Cloverseason 4 introducing Asta to Liebe and forming a contract while the Clover Kingdom’s knights prepare to recover Yami and William Vangeance, season 5 seems like a given. However, withthe anime’s X accountannouncing thatepisode #170 would be “the final episode ofBlack Clover,“fans knew the series had no conceivable way to end without a cliffhanger, hoping a newBlack Cloverseries adapting the final arcs could emerge.
While I acknowledge this is speculation, it can’t be helped, asthe best fights inBlack Cloveralmost entirely happen in the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc, where season 4’s conclusion leaves off.Asta’s contract with Liebe grants him an incredible new fighting formanime viewers never got to see, leading to satisfying battles or incredible moments put on the screen like Asta’s fight with Lilith and Nahamah in chapter #289. But beyond seeing Asta continue to rise as one of Clover Kingdom’s mightiest heroes, the supporting cast ofBlack Clovergets to shine, too.

There are fewer individual fights inBlack Clover’sSpade Kingdom Raid Arc, especially compared to the Elf Reincarnation and Royal Knights Arcs, yet even the smallest clashes are climactic in scale and beloved by fans.
This includes Noelle and Yuno in their respective fights against the Dark Triad, but perhaps most interesting for me when I was reading was seeing Magna lay an incredible smackdown to a formidable nemesis betweenBlack Cloverchapters #291 and #293. Much of the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc is a set ofincreasingly satisfying battles for the Black Bulls and the Magic Knights captains. All I can think of imagining this is seeing how Pierrot,Black Clover’sstudio, has handled other climactic arcs.

Pierrot’s New Production Approach Could Look Great for Black Clover
Black Clover Could Get the Bleach Treatment
As stated in an interview withnatalie.mu, Pierrot President and CEO Michiyuki Honma indicates that the studio’s recent shift toward seasonal anime was necessitated by the popular and widespread success of other studios making that shift first. Honma points toDemon Slayeras the main crucial success, wishing for the studio to take a similar approach with their series, citing aspects like “a high-quality work made with a generous budget and a solid amount of time” to emulate.
I’dloveto see this approach withBlack Clover, especially since the show’s quality was already fairly decent. The most notable instances of this shift with Pierrot includeBleach: Thousand-Year Blood Warand the later seasons ofKingdom, each of which attains greater praise than their previous iterations.
Honma’s perspective suggests that these series turn the usual weekly anime-watching experience, built over decades ofShonen Jumpadaptations, froman obligation into a must-seeeventfor fans. After all,TYBWPart 3’sOctober premiere was just preceded by an exclusive preview event screening for fans in Japan.
Black Clover Did Not Copy Naruto, It Improved It For Modern Times
Although it’s often called a Naruto copycat, Black Clover and characters like Asta would foretell today’s most prevalent themes and mechanics
Just imagine the production values of the past two seasons ofBleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, but forBlack Clover’sSpade Kingdom Raid Arc. Numerous characters get substantial moments full of glorious battle finishers, and one-liners, all building up toan explosive finale still unfolding in the manga.
I can imagine social media erupting into hysterics upon seeing Yuno’s big reveal at the climax of his greatest fight yet against a powerful Spade Kingdom nemesis. This could be one of the most exciting shōnen anime adaptations yet,and we have no confirmation it’ll happen at all.
Black Clover Could Take a Page from Tabata’s Pacing
Seasonal Anime for a Seasonal Manga
Fans have expressed a fascinating blend of frustration yet respectful understanding for Yūki Tabata’s decision to moveBlack Clover’sproduction toJump GIGA,a seasonal manga publication. It meant the series was confirmed to get regular, albeit strictly seasonal, installments instead of sporadic releases underWeekly Shonen JumpwhileTabata’s health improved.
Moving toJump GIGAwas a sensible decision, and it means moreBlack Clover, which could reasonably translate into Pierrot’s anime production schedule. While it might take an adjustment, with the first three seasons ofBlack Cloverhaving more than fifty episodes apiece before the sixteen-episode season 4, individual smaller seasons of up to thirteen episodes could be a strong approach.
Given how anticipation and discussion build before and after each release for shows released in a seasonal format,Black Cloverwould be given the space to flesh out each episode’s adaptations of individual chapters. From the next arc alone, there could easily be two or more seasons with that approach.
The Fans Have Spoken and Want Black Clover Season 5
Three Years Later, Still Holding Out Hope
Black Clover’ssudden conclusion in season 4 was unexpected, and judging from reactions to even the possibility ofBlack Cloverseason 5, people crave more adventures with Asta and the Black Bulls. A common statistic cited is how, in 2020,Black Cloverwas listed as the most-watched anime on Crunchyroll in 87 countries, in a year where people at home had seemingly nothing but time to kill by consuming entertainment.Even bringing upBleachin the same breath elicits responses demanding newBlack Cloverepisodes.
Part of that is how our anime media diet has expanded immensely with so many strong seasonal offerings coming out. If one is suddenly taken away without a conclusion, it can be a difficult adjustment, and while there was a 2023 film to tie us over, it seems like we’ll have to wait as Pierrot finishes with other projects first.
Black Clovernow has over a hundred chapters covering the events beyond season 4, and if Pierrot wants anotherDemon Slayer-style successful anime on top ofBleach, season 5 could easily be the ticket.
