Falloutstar Ella Purnell shares one particularly frustrating part of playing Lucy on the hit series. Hitting Prime Video in 2024, the adaptation of the beloved video game franchise hails from creators Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Purnell leads theFalloutTV show castas Lucy, a vault dweller who embarks on a quest across a post-apocalyptic landscape in an attempt to find her father. Lucy’s journey is ripe with violence and misfortune, and she ends up getting one of her fingers cut off, only to get a new one sewn on later.

During a recent panel at MegaCon Orlando for whichScreenRantwas in attendance, Purnell reveals that Lucy’s new finger inFalloutbecame quite annoying. The actor explains that the pale, dead-looking finger had to be painted on every single day for filming, and everyone on set ended up calling it the “poop finger.” Check out Purnell’s comment when asked if she’s worried about being typecast as characters that lose their fingers:

Lucy’s getting an index finger attached in Fallout season 1

That would actually be one of the worst things to happen to me. You know how annoying it is to have that finger painted on me every single day? This finger is the bane of my life. It’s the worst thing.

We tried certain things because they paint it, right? I don’t know if you guys know this, that you use the most for everything, all the time. And then you have to take it off, you put it back on, it’s very annoying. I just have this, like, poop finger all the time. I have to tell people when I go home at the end of the day, like, this is… It’s okay, I’ll freak out, it’s just… Whatever, it’s just very annoying. So I don’t want to lose any more fingers. I just don’t want to lose any fingers. I’m over it, I’m over the trigger.

I think it was Mike Harvey, who was the makeup designer, and he started calling it poop finger and it caught like wildfire, and everybody started saying it, and then they, yeah, that’s the name of it now. It’s on the call sheet. It’s a number on the call sheet.

What Lucy’s New Finger Means For Fallout Season 2

The Prime Video Show’s Status Explained

The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) ends up cutting off Lucy’s finger off as payback for when she bites his off, but she ends up getting a new one from a medical robot. This new appendage ends up sticking with Lucy throughout the remainder of season 1, and it’s seemingly set to return inFalloutseason 2, which reportedly started filming in November. It’s likely that, during the time of her MegaCon comment, Purnell had already experienced a number of weeks of having Lucy’s new finger painted on for production.

10 Burning Questions Fallout Season 2 Needs To Answer

The ending of Prime Video’s Fallout season 1 included plenty of reveals, though not without raising several questions that season 2 must answer.

Falloutseason 2 doesn’t yet have a release date, but filming will likely continue for much of this year. The filming and post-production pipeline for season 1 suggeststhe soonest season 2 could arrive is early 2026. TheFalloutseason 1 endingconfirms that Lucy isn’t out of the fray just yet, and that she will actually be embarking on a dangerous journey across the Wasteland with the Ghoul. After the two characters take each other’s fingers in season 1, though, it seems like their new dynamic moving forward could be more amicable.

Fallout Season 2’s Story Teases Explained

Hank Is Heading To A Crucial Video Game Location

One of the final shots of season 1 features Kyle MacLachlan’s Hank Maclean, wearing his Brotherhood of Steel armor, looking out over the Wasteland at a walled city. Those who played the games will quickly recognize this city as beingNew Vegas, a location that becomes especially important in theFallout: New Vegasvideo game. What exactly awaits Hank in this city remains a mystery, but it’s already been confirmed that a figure from the games will play a significant role in the episodes to come.

There are nine video games in the mainFalloutseries.Fallout: New Vegaswas released in 2010 and was widely acclaimed.

A character named Mr. House serves as the leader of New Vegas in the games, and he does actually appear very briefly inFalloutseason 1’s Vault-Tec flashbacks. It has now been confirmed thatMr. House, played in the show by Anthony Misiano, will return in season 2 for multiple episodes. Wagner also teased toIGNthat Mr. House’s role in season 2 won’t be just in flashback form this time:

“Many of our lead characters are Vegas-bound. Las Vegas in the world of Fallout is Robert House’s town. Robert House will be involved in Season 2.”

Wagner’s comment also suggests that Hank won’t be the only one headed to New Vegas. After the events of the season 1 finale and the rift that forms between Hank and Lucy,it seems likely that Lucy and the Ghoul will end up there as well. After spending much of season 1 as reluctant traveling partners, the final episode sees Lucy and Ghoul team up willingly. Though the Ghoul is on a mission to find his family, Lucy still has unfinished business with her father, and a bigger showdown between her and Hank seems to be on the way.

Our Take On Purnell’s Fallout Finger Woes

Falloutseason 1 reviewswere glowing from critics and show has been a major viewership success, meaning season 2 may not be the end of the road for Lucy. It’s possible that Lucy’s finger will eventually go back to looking somewhat normal the longer it stays attached to her body, orthe finger could end up being replaced altogether with one that’s less rotten. If that doesn’t happen, however, Purnell could be dealing with some finger painting for many seasons to come.

One of the reasons whyFalloutsucceeded as a show was due to its unique tone. Lucy so casually getting her finger cut off was both graphic and darkly comedic, and the fact that she now has a gross new finger speaks to the show’s approach to violence. It remains to be seen what’s to come withFalloutseason 2, but, hopefully, this unique tonal balance makes a return.
