Love Is Blindseason 8’s been one of the more highly-anticipated seasons of the series in recent memory, butI’ve changed my mind from the initial hype and am finding it to be one of the worstin the show’s run. WhileLove Is Blind, which began airing in 2020 and has pushed out multiple seasons each year ever since, has been one ofthe most successful reality TV dating showsairing since its premiere, there have been some issues with the series in recent seasons. Though some have still been able to enjoy the show, others have shied away.
The drama of the series has grown stale in recent years, especially with how frequently participants fall away from their relationships, but I was hopeful.

Love Is Blindseason 8has been tricky for viewers for a few reasons, but the buildup to the season left me hopeful that it would be an exciting experience. When it was teased that the current season, which was filmed about a year ago in Minneapolis, would be dropping on Valentine’s Day,I felt certain that we were about to see a season ofLove Is Blindon par with the show’s earlier successes. The drama of the series has grown stale in recent years, especially with how frequently participants fall away from their relationships, but I was hopeful.
Love Is Blind Has Faced A Lot Of Controversy
There Are Outstanding Legal Issues With The Show
Although there have been issues within many reality TV dating shows in the last few years,Love Is Blindhas had some of the mosthigh-profile problems in currently airing reality TV. With reports of issues behind the scenes from participants for years, the legal troubles that have come fromLove Is Blindhave been enough to encourage some viewers to stop watching the show altogether.Participants from earlier seasons of the series shared claims of inhumane treatment, with some coming forward to share their experiences publicly while others have chosen to remain anonymous for the sake of their privacy.
I can’t see the show continuing without some major, meaningful change.

Love Is Blindhas faced backlash in recent seasons for how they’ve handled the participants' problems. OneLove Is Blindcast member, Renee Poche, shared her issues with the show after they completely edited out her experience with ex Carter Wall. Despitefollowing Renee and Carter throughoutLove Is Blindseason 5, the show edited around them and erased them from the series. Knowing that Renee felt unsafe around Carter throughout filming, the producers allegedly did nothing to help when she shared that her partner had anger issues. Renee’s lawsuit wasn’t successful, but she’s been opposed to the series continuing.
Love Is Blind Season 8’s Pod Phase Was Agonizing
The Pods Lasted For Six Full Episodes
Although there haven’t been any accusations from the current season of the series,Love Is Blindseason 8 has been one of the most difficult to watch from a viewer’s standpoint. While the pod phase has been getting longer with every season,I was stunned to see thatLove Is Blindstill went through six full episodes of the pod phasethis season, especially after watching the first couple of episodes.Love Is Blindseason 8’s pod phasehas become increasingly difficult to deal with because, for the most part, the cast members are aware of what to expect.
20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now
Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.
WhileLove Is Blindhas only been on the air for a few years, it’s been a highly successful and thoroughly seen series, which means very few people don’t have an awareness of it. I’ve noticed in the last few seasons, the participants are looking to have a specific experience in the pods rather than letting things take their course. The expectations held byLove Is Blindparticipants make the pod phase toughto watch because there’s a formulaic nature that comes with them. This season’s pod phasebrought together several expected couples, rather than surprising viewers with exciting matches.

Love Is Blind Season 8’s Drama Is Boring
It’s Being Teased Like It’s Thrilling
Although there’s some originality inLove Is Blindseason 8, most of what’s happened has been boring. I’m not looking for it to revolutionize relationship drama for the sake of my entertainment, butLove Is Blindoften shows the same few big dramatic arcs each season. A lack of honesty from one partner is a big issue for the couples, a potential poor decision made in the pod phase leads another couple to question if they should be with other people, and other couples wind up featured less and then surprise viewers with a breakup they didn’t necessarily see coming.
With the exception of one storyline, I feel like I’ve seen everythingLove Is Blindseason 8 has to offer on other seasons of the show.Taylor Haag and Daniel Hastings’ storyline, which may follow them through the rest of the season, wherein Taylor wondered if Daniel followed her on Instagram and somehow followed her through the casting process was somewhat original. While it was similar to another storyline fromLove Is Blindseason 5, where one contestant recognized her ex’s voice in the pods and hid it from others, there’s rarely aLIBstoryline that takes me by surprise.

Love Is Blind Season 8 Is The Worst Season Yet
I’m Concerned For The Shows Future
Although I’m aware thatLove Is Blindis already returning for another season, the Netflix series may be smart to pump the brakes before sharing another installmentof the dramatic show. Though I think some meaningful and genuinerelationships have come fromLove Is Blind, the show itself needs to reassess how it’s going to move forward after backlash and difficulty in keeping viewers engaged. Whether that’s revamping the pod phase in some way or updating their procedures surrounding theLove Is Blindcast, I can’t see the show continuing without some major, meaningful change.
Love Is Blindwill be streaming new episodes each Friday on Netflix until its finale on March 7.
