I reckon adapting Tommy Maximoff’s new origin story for theMCUafterAgatha All Alongteased his return would be the perfect story for Marvel Studios' speculatedYoung Avengersproject. Three years after 2021’sWandaVisionended with the apparent deaths of Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s magically-created twins, Billy and Tommy, I was thrilled to see the former make his triumphant return to the MCU.Agatha All Alongepisode 6 confirmed that Joe Locke’s “Teen” is in factBilly Maximoff’s soul in the body of William Kaplan, which made me hopeful that his brother would also return.
Billy and Tommy Maximoff were previously portrayed by Julian Hilliard and Jett Klyne, respectively, inWandaVisionandDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, inspired by their Marvel Comics stories, which detailed a convoluted story of the twins being reincarnated in the forms ofBilly Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd, new actors have assumed these powerful roles in the MCU. I think Joe Locke was the perfect casting for William Kaplan, whose deceased body was taken over by Billy Maximoff, and I’m excited to seeTommy Maximoff recast in the MCU.

12 Biggest Unanswered Questions After Agatha All Along
Agatha All Along has recently concluded, providing a satisfying ending that still leaves audiences with some very exciting MCU questions.
I noticed some clear changes betweenTommy Maximoff’s new origin story in the MCUand his backstory as Thomas “Tommy” Shepherd in Marvel Comics.Agatha All Alongepisode 8 revealed thatTommy Maximoff’s new body comes from a troubled home, with apparently nobody looking out for him, and he is the victim of intense bullying, which ultimately culminates in his death, with his bullies drowning him. This makes me think that the new Tommy Maximoff will be a darker character than Jett Klyne’s version, but this could work perfectly for the MCU.

How The MCU Can Still Adapt Tommy Maximoff’s Marvel Comics Origin
Tommy Maximoff’s New Origin Story Is Perfect For The MCU
Even though Marvel Studios has changed many aspects of Tommy Maximoff’s reincarnation storyline for the MCU, I still think the history of Tommy Shepherd can be adapted somewhat faithfully. In Marvel Comics,Tommy Shepherd had a hard upbringing and comes from a separated family, leading to him becoming a rebellious teenager.Billy Kaplan’s Wiccan and the Young Avengerstrack down Tommy Shepherd, who has speedster abilities like his uncle, Quicksilver, in a high-security facility where he was imprisoned after he accidentally vaporized his school using his powers.
Tommy Maximoff made his first Marvel Comics appearance in 1986’sThe Vision and the Scarlet Witch #12, but was revealed to have been reincarnated as Thomas “Tommy” Shepherd in 2006’sYoung Avengers #10.

Marvel Studios has already set up the perfect way to adapt this origin story. I reckon Billy Maximoff’s Wiccan could still find his brother imprisoned, perhaps after accidentally vaporizing his bullies after taking up residence in his new body after being drowned. This would be a pretty dark origin story for the new Tommy Maximoff in the MCU, but I reckon this would be a perfect way to set up his darker streak as Speed. I would love to see this more mature and experienced version of Tommy Maximoff, and I know exactly where he could appear.
Why Marvel’s Young Avengers Project Is The Best Place For Tommy Maximoff To Return
The Maximoff Twins Would Make Excellent Young Avengers
The introduction of various young heroes in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga has made me think that Marvel Studios will surely develop aproject focused on the Young Avengers. This could include Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye and, afterAgatha All Along, Billy Maximoff’s Wiccan. I reckon this would be the perfect place for Tommy Maximoff to officially return, as this would adapt his Marvel Comics origin authentically. While the MCU’sVisionseries would be a strong place for Tommy Maximoff’s return, his appearance in a Young Avengers movie makes a lot of sense.
