This also meant significant character development for Ahsoka in particular, as she was forced to confront her feelings of grief and guilt over Anakin’s fall. However, this edit makes their reunion even better with one key change inAhsokaepisode 5.
The edit, shared bylukes_lightsaberson Instagram and created bykaipattersonfilms, alters the fight between Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker inAhsokaso that,rather than fighting on the bridge in the World Between Worlds, the two appear on Malachor. This adjustment is absolutely genius because it has so much significance and emotional weight, replicating the former master and apprentice duo’s iconic battle inStar Wars Rebels.

What A Return To Malachor Would’ve Meant For Star Wars
Although it may seem like a small change,editing Ahsoka and Anakin’s battle inAhsokaso that it takes place on Malachor is incredibly profound. InRebels, this was where Ahsoka first saw Darth Vader. Their last encounter had been just before Order 66 and Anakin Skywalker’s turn to the dark side. Prior toRebels, Ahsoka had believed her Jedi Master to be dead, and the reality was so much worse. In fact, when Ahsoka discovered what Anakin had become (and that he was still alive), she fainted.
However, Malachor is especially important because Vader very nearly killed Ahsoka during that fight. This makes it an even better location forAnakin’s final lesson for AhsokainAhsokaepisode 5. Throughout their encounter in the World Between Worlds, Anakin reiterated that Ahsoka must choose,“Live or die.“In the end, Ahsoka chose to live, both in the sense that she literally survived their battle and in that she was able to truly move forward in her life, free of the guilt she carried following the events of Order 66 and Anakin’s fall to the dark side.
I Can’t Believe This Edit Has Actually Improved Such An Awesome Scene
One of the most impressive aspects of this cut, in addition to the edit itself being executed flawlessly, is thatit improves upon a scene I really did not think could get any better. WhileAhsokamay have gotten mixed reviews, episode 5 was some of my favoriteStar Wars. As a massive fan of both Anakin and Ahsoka, whom I believe to be two ofStar Wars’best characters, this reunion and the growth Ahsoka got to experience during this episode were incredibly meaningful to me.
However, this edit takes all of that to the next level, bridging theAhsokaepisode with an equally emotional moment fromRebels. While I still love the original episode 5, I’m admittedly even more delighted by this change. Truly, this fan edit movingAnakin Skywalkerand Ahsoka Tano’sAhsokafight to Malachor is absolutely brilliant.
