MultiVersus Has Not Been The Hit Warner Bros. Games Needs

Despite the excitement for season 4,MultiVersus' underwhelming release is causing financial headaches. According toIGN, Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav and Chief Financial Officer Gunnar Wiedenfels said theirgames business isn’t performing well.Wiedenfels citedMultiVersus' lack of financial success upon release as the main reason the company had to take a further $100 million writedown.

Many in theMultiVersuscommunity believe this is a problem of unrealistic expectations, but fans likePuzzleheaded-Web466pointed out that too frequent updates toMultiVersusmake it hard for players to decide if they’ll stick with the game as it’s always changing. Season 4 is set to bring even more changes toMultiVersus, but it remains to be seen if a season headlined by iconic characters can change the financial trajectory of the game.
