Jamie Lee Curtis, who played final girl Laurie Strode in theHalloweenseries, teased a possible return to the horror franchise. After starring in theoriginalHalloweenmoviein 1978, Curtis has gone on to appear in six moreHalloweenfilms. The most recent installment, 2022’sHalloween Ends, served as a conclusion to David Gordon Green’s reboot trilogy which began in 2018. However, over its almost 50-year history, theHalloweenfranchise has ended and then started again in a new form multiple times, so it wouldn’t be surprising for anotherHalloweenmovie to be released sooner rather than later.

In an interview withEntertainment Weekly, Curtis revealed she may be open to returning to the role. This comes as a surprise, as in the build-up toHalloween Ends, Curtis claimed it would be her last time playing Laurie Strode.Curtis teases another potential return to theHalloweenfranchisejust two years after her last movie saying “never say never.“Read Curtis' full quote below:

Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode holds up a knife in Halloween 1978

I have hung up my bell-bottoms and my pale blue button-down shirt, and I have relinquished [Laurie] to the ages with a warm, ‘aloha,’ and a thanks for all the years and memories. And yet, if I’ve learned anything in my 65 years on the planet, it’s never say never. Goodbye.

What Would Curtis Returning As Laurie Strode Mean For The Halloween Franchise?

Laurie Strode Killed Michael Myers In Halloween Ends

While Curtis has not appeared ineveryHalloweenmovie, she has appeared in many, and is considered by most to be the main character of the franchise, other than Michael Myers. Therefore, Curtis returning for anotherHalloweenmovie would be a huge deal for the series, but it would also raise many questions. During the climax ofHalloween Ends, Laurie Strode has a final showdown with Michael Myers, which eventually ends in his death. This was an appropriate ending for Laurie’s story, sinceshe put an end to the evil being who began terrorizing her decades prior.

SinceHalloween Endswas marketed as the end of the long-running horror franchise,it would make the most sense for the nextHalloweenmovie to be another reboot. However, Curtis' return would complicate this. With Curtis involved, a new movie would never be able to distance itself from previous entries in theHalloweenfranchise. However, at the same time, it could be appealing for the studio to include Curtis in the nextHalloweenmovie, since she is such a popular actor.

Our Take On Curtis Potentially Returning As Laurie Strode In Halloween

While Curtis is a phenomenal actor and has contributed so much to theHalloweenfranchise from the very beginning,Halloween Endsprobably gave Laurie Strode the best ending she will get. AfterHalloween Ends, the time seems right to take the franchise in a new direction. However, while Laurie doesn’t have to appear in the next film, anotherHalloweenreboot would not be the same without Michael Myers, so the bigger question is whetherThe Shapewill return.
