Warning: Spoiler Alerts for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 236 and Demon Slayer Chapter 177
Demon SlayerandJujutsu Kaisenare two of the most popular anime in recent years and they both have a character who is considered “the strongest” in their respective series. From the beginning ofJujutsu Kaisen, Satoru Gojo is considered the strongest sorcerer for hisLimitless technique, Six Eyes, and his overall combat skills.Demon Slayer’s Yoriichi Tsugikuni is considered the strongest demon slayer in the entire series due to his Sun Breathing, swordsmanship, and for hisability to see the “Transparent World.”

Though Gojo is arguably stronger and would likely win in a fight with Yoriichi,Yoriichi embodies the concept of being “the strongest” better.Yoriichi embodies this role better than Gojo because even though he has been dead for centuries in the current timeline of theDemon Slayerseries, he still continues to haunt the narrative due to his reputation as someone who was truly unstoppable and defied the odds.
Gojo & Yoriichi Were Born Talented But One Was Praised While The Other Was Condemned
Yoriichi and Gojo were both born with talent, but their upbringings were different. Yoriichi was born a twin during a time when twins were seen as omens and was also born with a demon slayer mark which allowed him to see the Transparent World, though the power of his mark went unrecognized as a child. He grew up with fewer privileges than his brother, Michikatsu, but still remained humble nonetheless. Despite his natural talents that excelled those of his brother, Yoriichi saw himself as an ordinary person.Yoriichi’s humble upbringing makes him a more compelling fit for a character considered “the strongest.”
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ending Proves It Was Never As Revolutionary As People Said
For years, Jujutsu Kaisen has been hailed as a revolutionary shonen manga, but that’s not exactly true, and its ending highlights that perfectly.
Raised as the head of his clan and born the first person in centuries to have both the Limitless and Six Eyes abilities, Gojo has been spoiled and showered with praise since birth. His abilities not only contribute to his reputation as the strongest, but also to his overly confident, sometimes cocky, personality. Unlike Yoriichi’s humility, Gojo frequently refers to himself as the strongest. While fans don’t see much of Gojo’s childhood, it’s clear that his early life of privilege and praise shaped his character, making him a stark contrast to the humble Yoriichi.

Even Death Couldn’t Bring Yoriichi To His Knees, Proving He Truly Was The Strongest
Gojo’s deathcame as a shock when he was defeated off-screen byRyomen Sukuna. While Gojo was arguably one of the strongest characters in the series, his death proved that he was not the invincible sorcerer many believed him to be. Many fans hoped to see him overcome Sukuna and solidify his position as the number one strongest sorcerer. His defeat raised many questions about whether he truly reached his full potential and left room for what might have been if his development had continued further in the series.
Unlike Gojo,Yoriichi did not die in battle but of old age, proving that the only thing that could defeat him was time.Despite Yoriichi’s age, his twin brother, who became a demon named Kokushibo, was impressed that he still fought like his younger self. Kokushibo was enraged at the idea of Yoriichi always being superior to him and slashed his standing corpse in anger. While those with a demon slayer mark are said to die by 25, Yoriichi lived into his 80s, making him the only one with a demon slayer mark to do so, further solidifying his legacy as the strongest.
