Why Brooklynn Left With The Broker

There’s More To Brooklyn’s Dark Decisions Then Meets The Eye

One of the big turns inJurassic World: Chaos Theory’s season 2 finale “Reunions” sees Brooklynn double down on her plans tobring down the Broker. Revealed to be Soyona Santos fromJurassic World: Dominion, the Broker is Brooklynn’s key to targeting the black market that is selling and smuggling dinosaurs around the world.Brooklynn’s efforts steadily impress and endear her to Santos, who brings her along jn her escape.

Even when given the chance to reunite with her friends or explain herself Brooklynn remains undercover and seemingly sides with Santos. This sets her up to dive even further into the lion’s den in season 3 ofChaos Theory. Given that Santos survives to take part in the events ofDominion(which happens afterChaos Theoryin theJurassic Parktimeline), it’s unclear how successful Brooklynn will be. However, it sets up a far more dramatic season 3 and beyond for the animated show.

Bumpy’s Egg & What The Broker Needs The Dino Eggs For

The Broker Has Big Plans For The Dinosaur Eggs

An unofficial member of the Nublar Six by this point, Bumpy has been a consistent reminder that humans and dinosaurs can co-exist. Bumpy laid an egg in the first season, butthe unborn dinosaur was stolen away by people working for the Broker. This sets up the Nublar Six to chase after the Broker at the end ofChaos Theoryseason 1. However, the villain’s plans for the eggs are far worse than they can imagine.

As revealed in the two-part “Lab Partners” storyline in season 2, it turns out Santos and the other scientists in her employ intend to rewrite the DNA of the dinosaurs within the Eggs. Although this will erase the creatures that could be born, it plays into Santos' plans to genetically modify and clone her own supply of dinosaurs. In theory, this stream of genetically cloned dinosaurs couldallow the Broker to create her own supply of dinosaurs, negating the need to hunt down and capture dinosaurs for her smuggling operation.

New Dinosaur Clones Explained: No More Hybrids

The Broker Has Dark Plans For The Future

Previous storylines in theJurassic Worldfranchise have highlighted the dangers of creating hybrid dinosaurs. This was seen clearly with the Indominus rex, the T. Rex/Raptor hybrid that threatened the teens inCamp Cretacrousand was the primary threat ofJurassic World. However, Santos seems to be moving away from the idea of making hybrid creatures that are hard to control. Instead,Santos seems more content to clone them instead, giving her control over the scope of her operations and give her tigheter control of the dinosaurs.

The Broker, aka Soyona Santos, is played by Dichen Lachman in bothJurassic World: DominionandJurassic World: Chaos Theory.

It’s a dangerous plan that could make Santos incredibly powerful it succeeds. It also makes her the latest example of a human villain in the Jurassic franchise who believes she can control nature through unchecked science. Although her plans are disrupted and she’s forced to destroy her Senegal labs to cover her tracks, it’s clear from season 2’s endingshe has no intention of slowing down her ambitions. Santos even has the perfect ally to expand her operations with.

The Broker & Biosyn Partnership Explained

HowJurassic World: Chaos TheoryDirectly Connects ToJurassic World: Dominion

One of the big turns ofChaos Theoryseason 2 confirms thatSantos has made an arrangement with Biosyn. The genetics company that’s been an overarching threat of the franchise since the events ofJurassic Park, and were the overarching villains ofJurassic World: Dominion. They’ve been trying to gain control of the dinosaur DNA so they can enact their own plans for the future.

Every Death In Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 1

The deaths in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory highlight the deadly qualities of the animated series and how it plays with the franchise’s themes.

The fact that Santos has a collection of dinosaur eggs for them makes the likelihood that their plans will come together all the more likely, even if Santos' plans to perfect the cloning process are undone by the investigations of the Nublar Six. This doesn’t mean the plans could be erased fully, though. It’s likely that the eggs Santos brings to Biosyn could jumpstart their plans in season 3, andcould even play into their plans fromJurassic World: Dominionor beyond intoJurassic World Rebirth.

Jurassic World Dominion Movie Connections In Jurassic World: Chaos Theory

It’s All Connected

The presence of Santos as the Broker directly connectsChaos TheoryandJurassic World: Dominion. The third film in the modern iteration of theJurassicfranchise, the 2022 film saw Santos working as a black market smuggler aligned with Biosyn. It seems that Chaos Theory will delve more into the origins and specifics of that partnership, including what Biosyn gets out of it andhow it leads to their working relationship inDominion.

This could be the key to making the Nublar Six more vital to the overarchingJurassic Worldfranchise.

Chaos Theory Season 2 Jurassic World Brooklynn Kenji

AsChaos Theoryinches closer to the events of that film,it’s possible that season 3 and beyond could take the connection even furtherand fully illustrate where the Nublar Six are during the events of that film. They could even introduce a moment of crossover between the Nublar Six storyline and the plots of the live-action films. This could be the key to making the Nublar Six more vital to the overarchingJurassic Worldfranchise.

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 3 Setup Explained

The Nublar Six Are More Divided Than Ever

Jurassic World: Chaos Theoryends season 2 on a conflicted note. On the one hand, the Nublar Six have saved Bumpy’s egg, brought down the lab in Senegal, and discovered Brooklynn’s survival. They’ve even formed new allies in the process. However, their trust in her has been deeply shaken by her decision to keep them in the dark about her fate.

On top of this, that truth could also negatively impact the entire group dynamic, as Ben’s discovery of her survival earlier in the season (but decision to keep it quiet out of respect to her wishes) has already damaged his rapport with Kenji. This conflict could fester into a larger divide between the group. With Santos now having a vested interest in bringing down the Nublar Six (along with the likely resources afforded to her thanks to Biosyn) could makeJurassic World: Chaos Theoryseason 3 even more dangerous and intense.

How The Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2 Ending Was Received

The Second Chapter Closed On A High

Like many shows, Netflix dropped the entirety ofJurassic World: Chaos Theoryseason 2 in one go, with all 10 episodes arriving in October 2024. This means the majority of reviews and responses tend to focus on the season as a whole rather then the ending or final episode (episode 10, “Reunion”). What’s more, due to the niche nature ofChaos Theory(a franchise show directed at both theJurassic Parkfandom and younger viewers in general), the show does seem to have fallen under the radar of many critics.

However, this doesn’t mean that there’s any question over how theJurassic World: Chaos Theoryseason 2 ending was received. As far as the target audience is concerned, season 2 of Netflix’sJurassic Worldspin-off hit the mark and then some.Season 2 currently has no Tomatometer rating (critical score) onRotten Tomatoes, but sits with an incredibly high audience response of 93% on the Popcornmeter.

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2 Review - This Quality Thriller Is What The Live-Action Films Should Be

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2 is not only better than the first, but it also opens up the world of the franchise through intriguing choices.

The reviews for season 2 ofJurassic World: Chaos Theorycan mostly be found among sites devoted to theJurassic WorldandJurassic Parkmovies and spin-offs, andthe general consensus among these is that the second chapter of the story, including its ending, was nothing short of brililant. For example, Tom Jurassic of theJurassic Park Podcastgave away as much as possible to illustrate just how much he enjoyed the narrative in his spoiler-free review - and his praise was unrestrained:

03209638_poster_w780.jpg

“We need to talk about story. This season does a fantastic job of picking up where the first entry toChaos Theoryended, and does take the time to explain some of the gaps in the timeline up until this point. We get a great story which at its crux features two separate branches which allow us to learn more about both the Nublar Six and the wider world which they now inhabit.”

The same can be said for critic Sam Pearce ofThe Cosmic Circus, who admits that they weren’t completely sold on season 1 ofChaos Theory, but found season 2 from start to end became an instant favorite:

“Netflix has once again delivered us a fantastic season, and one that my roommate and I will no-doubt rewatch over and over. If I were a Netflix executive, I’d say “Seven more seasons on my desk by tomorrow morning.”

Overall, it’s also clear that the ending ofJurassic World: Chaos Theorywas well-received due to the fact that Netflix went ahead with season 3, which arrived in April 2025. The re-watch value mentioned by the likes of Sam Pearce, and the continuity of a wider story noted by both Pearce and critics like Tom Jurassic are all strengths that the ending of season 2 lends itself to too, and the true impact of the final moments of “Reunion” won’t become fully clear until season 3. The fact that there will be a season 3, givenNetflix’s tendency to cancel showsprematurely is a sure sign that the ending ofJurassic World: Chaos Theoryseason 2 was seen as a high-point worth following up.
