While 2025 is just beginning, there are already plenty of movies to go out and start seeing, and one of the most intriguing films coming to theaters soon is the post-apocalyptic romance film,Love Me. The film premiered at Sundance in January 2024, but its theatrical release is coming later in January 2025.Love Me’s trailerhas just been revealed, giving general audiences a look at the movie before its theatrical debut, and the film looks strikingly similar to Pixar’s 2008 classic,WALL-E.

WALL-Eis one of Pixar’s most beloved films, so naturally,Love Me’s similarities to the animated hit has been turning heads, as the upcoming movie has a very similar premise. The romance stars Kristen Stewart as a buoy and Steven Yeun as a satellite on a post-apocalyptic earth, and the two must figure out what it means to be human, and navigate the complexities that come with falling in love. AsWALL-Eis a beloved robot protagonist,Love Me’s two metallic stars will hopefully be able to live up to the 2008 animated hit.

Love Me’s Parallels To WALL-E Explained

The Two Movies Have A Number Of Similar Ideas

Some of the similarities betweenLove MeandWALL-Eare quite obvious, with the most obvious point being that both films revolve around nonhuman robots falling in love and trying to discover the meaning of life.WALL-Enever got a sequel, andLove Me’s similar themes of self-discovery and love mean that it is likely the closest that we are going to getto a true continuation of the Pixar classic, even if the two projects obviously don’t take place within the same universe.

The biggest difference between the two films, aside from the different filmmaking medium, is likely the fact thatWALL-Ecouldn’t speak beyond his name, while the main characters inLove Mewill be fully voiced throughout the film.

Another major similarity between the two films is the fact thatthey both feature a post-apocalyptic version of Earth inhabited only by robots. While humanity does still exist inWALL-E, and it is a major part of that film’s story, the human race has seemingly completely vanished in the upcomingKristen Stewart film, with the buoy and satellite seeming to be some of the only remnants left of humanity. However, the central point of the Earth being nearly completely devoid of human life remains the same between both films.

If WALL-E Proves Anything, Love Me WILL Make You Cry

With the shared DNA between these films, it stands to reason that fans ofWALL-Ewill also be able to find a lot of enjoyment out of this Kristen Stewart andSteven Yeun movieas well. The upcoming film’s trailer has promised an extremely emotional journey, and with how the overarching plot seems to line up with the excellent and emotionalWALL-E,Love Meseems like it can absolutely deliver the same kind of punch thatWALL-Ehad 15 years ago.
