As you play Spider-Man or Venom for the first time inMarvel Rivals, you may notice the web-swinging abilities of either character can feel awkward. This is likely due to a hidden mechanic for both characters being turned on by default in the game’s settings. To swing with more accuracy and precision throughout every map, you’ll want to turn this feature off when playing as these wall crawlers.

Spider-Man inMarvel Rivalshas multiple web-swings he can perform before a cooldown, while Venom only has one. For both characters, this skill is essential for how they move around on a map and surprise enemy teams with good positioning. However, youcan’t aim for precise spots on the map to web-swing fromif you have a hidden feature called"Easy Swing"active in your settings.

Easy Swing Makes It Difficult To Swing Around The Map

Whenever you pick Spider-Man or Venom, you will have"Easy Swing"turned on in their character-specific settings. Easy Swingautomatically picks a point near you to anchor your web-swing ability, allowing you to just press the button and swing along whatever object was chosen. For beginners, this is an easy way to move around as you get used to the game’s overall controls, but this mechanic is wildly inconsistent.

Marvel Rivals Review - A Marvel In Super-Powered Multiplayer Gaming

Marvel Rivals pushes the Hero Shooter genre forward but fails to shake off faults that have become disappointing staples in modern multiplayer gaming.

For starters, theinability to choose an anchor point for a web-swing could mean Venom or Spider-Man swings in a random directionrather than where you want to go. You may want to attach your web-swing to a high part of the map to fly high into the air, but suddenly Easy Swing causes you to move practically sideways from somewhere else.

Marvel Rivals Spider-Man Automatic Swing unique character setting

During some of my early matches, Easy Swing caused me to almost drop off maps entirely, because I did not know which direction I was going!

Without precision, Easy Swing can cause you toaccidentally throw yourself into enemy teamsrather than escape them, or vice versa. This is especially bad forVenom inMarvel Rivals, who only gets one use of a web-swinging ability before waiting for it to recover on a cooldown. Spider-Man’s low health also makes him rely on web-swinging often to get out of danger, so Easy Swing could get him eliminated.

How To Turn Off Easy Swing In Marvel Rivals

Go Into Character Settings

Thankfully, it’s not hard to disable Easy Swing for both Spider-Man and Venom from the settings ofMarvel Rivals.Every hero in the game has unique settingsthat you can access by going through the following steps:

Once you have Spider-Man or Venom’s settings selected, scroll down until you see"Easy Swing"or"Automatic Swing.“As you’ll see, these settings are turned on by default, but you can just press them again to disable this hidden feature. When you’ve done this, pressing a web-swing ability for either character will not cause you to automatically find an anchor point on aMarvel Rival’s mapyou weren’t aiming for.

In a character’s unique settings, you’re able to also adjust other properties of the hero or villain, such as if you need to hold an input to keep web-swinging as Spider-Man.

From now on, youhave to aim at a solid object to initiate a web-swing, shooting out a tendril or line of webbing to whatever spot you choose. This gives you far more control over your mobility, but it may take some time in the Practice Range to fully adjust to this setting. However, there’s no denying that it gives Venom and Spider-Man far more freedom of movement inMarvel Rivals.
