I am an avidMarried at First Sightfan with expert knowledge of all the cast members, and I’m finding Juan to be the most problematic cast member this season. Juan and Karla are joined inMarried at First Sightseason 18by four other couples; Camille Parsons and Thomas, Michelle Tomblin and David Trimble,Ikechi Ojoréand Emem Obot, and Madison Myers and Allen Slovick.
The season 18 couples all said yes to marrying their stranger spouses, have gone on their Mexico honeymoons, and are settling into the living together portion of the experiment. The couples are almost at their one-month anniversaries, and none of them have given up yet, which makes this season already more successful than the last four seasons. I’ve watched Juan and Karla begin their marriage happily, but now I’m positive Juan is no longer invested and is sabotaging his marriage to Karla.

The first red flag exhibited byLifetime’sMarried at First Sightseason 18’s Juan, is when he had a romantic dinner with Karla and completely ruined it. Juan told Karla that he had such a good time hanging out with David that he forgot Karla was on the honeymoon. I know Karla was deeply hurt by Juan’s sentiment, and I’ve noticed it cause her to become passive-aggressive and resentful. As they adjust to living together,I’m not seeing that Juan is putting in enough effort to connect with Karla.
Instead of taking her on his weekend ritual bike ride, he chastised her when he came home for waking up late. I don’t think Juan is doing enough to show Karla that he cares. Karla has been vocal about the things she needs emotionally and physically from Juan, and he is not catering to those needs enough to foster the relationship, which makes him problematic.

I am also picking up on the fact that Juan is not onMarried at First Sightfor the right reasons. In the latest episode, Juan mentioned that he was a model for years, so I think he’s using the show for exposure. Furthermore, Juan has a start-up tech company, and he has promoted it through his company’s logo wear during After Party.
I think Juan is less interested in making the marriage work and more interested in stringing Karla along to get more air time and a wider audience.
