This beloved series has been a part of fans’ lives for more than a decade, accompanying them through the best and toughest of times. While seeing it end can be saddening, it is undoubtedly a cause for celebration.
To commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime experience, the talented artists atMarvel Comicscreated two incredible illustrations that bring together the best of both universes. Spider-Man and Deku Come Together To Celebrate The Series’ Ending
Other Iconic Characters Were Also Depicted In Marvel’s Art Style
To celebrate the decade-long journey of Deku and his friends coming to an end, Kohei Horikoshi, the creator ofMy Hero Academia, worked with Marvel Comics to create two spectacular illustrations. Thanks to Humberto Ramos and Edgar Delgado, two of the best artists who have worked on the Spider-Man franchise, both universes have collided in the best of ways. In the first picture, Deku and All Might can be seen standing behind Peter Parker, the three extending their hands to the viewers. This pose reflects their belief that anyone has the potential to become a hero.
While Izuku’s appearance has not changed too drastically,All Might does indeed look like a classic Marvel hero. His features look much more detailed, likely an homage tohis buffed version having been inspired by American comics. The second image, in which the artists truly let their minds run free, depicts several of theMy Hero Academiaheroines trying to catch the infamous Black Cat. The iconic burglar can be seen using her whip to escape with jewels and cash as the women created by Horikoshi attempt to foil her plans.
Uraraka, Momo, and Mt. Lady have their hands extended toward Black Cat, trying to prevent her from fleeing, while Tsuyu andthe number one American hero Star and Stripelook ready for a fight. Mirko and Setsuna, who are always looking for a good fight, smile as they prepare to jump into action. The heroines have adapted to the universe of Spider-Man, with their features looking significantly more realistic than their manga counterparts. Both images have done an amazing job of merging these two iconic series into one.
Mirko’s Skin Caused Confusion Among Fans
Her Skin Is Lighter Than In The Manga
Although the illustrations unveiled byMarvel Comicswere cause for celebration amongMy Hero Academiafans, they also had some members of the fandom scratching their heads in confusion. Apparently, Marvel shared an AI or photo-enhanced version of these images that drastically changed the skin color ofone of the strongest female characters in the series, Mirko, making her look like a whitewashed version of herself. This was not at all the intended look of the popular heroine, who still has her canon skin tone in the original illustrations.
Despite this small hiccup, the illustrations created by Horikoshi, Ramos, and Delgado are undoubtedly a beautiful gift for fans of these beloved franchises.Marvel Comicsis one of the biggest inspirations the author had when working onMy Hero Academiaand seeing them come together in such an incredible manner is a memorable occasion and it must surely be a crowning achievement for Horikoshi himself.
