The line-up for the New Champions includes eight new heroes teased at the end ofNew Champions#1. It is worth taking a look at the core members of the new team in comparison to their predecessors. That means Liberty, Moon Squire, Hellrune, Cadet Marvel, and Fantasma (to make it five) for the New Champions, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Nova, Vivian Vision, and Brawn for the Champions, and Wiccan, Hulkling, Iron Lad, Patriot, and Kate Bishop for Young Avengers. The New Champions are still new, and are in the process of learning their powers,so their full potentials are unknown at this time.
Overall, the Young Avengers are a much more experienced team, and are much stronger than the New Champions.
Not many characters can match Wiccan when comparing powers, as he is one ofMarvel’s most powerful characters. Hellrune also has a mystical power-set, though the specifics of her powers are still unknown, and it seems unlikely she will be able to out-magic Wiccan. Liberty uses hard light technology, and Iron Lad uses technology too, but his is futuristic, as he is a younger version of Kang the Conqueror. Cadet Marvel has incredible strength, but he could be overpowered by Hulkling. Overall, the Young Avengers are a much more experienced team, and are much stronger than the New Champions.

The New Champions took a name and catchphrase that didn’t belong to them, and the old Champions have something to say about that. InNew Champions#3,both Champions teams will come face-to-face and determine which is the most powerful Champions team.In terms of powers, the Champions and New Champions have a much more equal power set. Cadet Marvel could probably hold his own against Nova for a short while, Spider-Man and Moon Squire could tussle a bit, Liberty and Ms. Marvel could have a fair fight with Ms. Marvel also having her mutant hard light powers.
