New Marvel Character Dragonfire Brings A Fresh Twist To Iron Fist Lore

The Hero Debuts Vs. Notorious Mutant Villain Sabretooth In 2025

The Immortal Iron Fist– written by Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction, with art by David Aja – was the first series to explore the Iron Fists of the past, introducing previous bearers of the name such as Wu Ao-Shi, the Pirate Queen of Pinghai Bay, andOrson Randall, the Golden Age Iron Fist. Interestingly, the time period before Orson Randall took up the mantle remains relatively unexplored; the last person to carry the Iron Fist title was Kwai Jun-Fan, who was killed in 1878. As such,it’s entirely possible that Dragonfire could have wielded Iron Fist’s powers in the early 1900s.

According toThe Immortal Iron Fistseries, there were sixty-six previous bearers of the Iron Fist mantle before Danny Rand. So far, Marvel has only officially named ten of these previous Iron Fists.

Long-livedcharacters like Wolverine and Sabretoothallow for creators to tell stories throughoutthe history of the Marvel Universe, and the legacy aspect of characters like Iron Fist means that multiple versions of these heroes have existed throughout history. Early 1900’s New York City should be a ripe setting for the action to take place, and the addition of warriors from K’un Lun getting involved sounds too cool to ignore.
