Arcane fans are happy that Season 2 is coming out. However, the creators have said there will be no Season 3 of Arcane on Netflix.
Arcane is everything a League of Legends fan could expect from a TV adaptation, which has many fans of its universe hoping there might be a Season 3 on Netflix. Unfortunately, Season 2 will mark the end of Arcane.
The first Act of Season 2 launched on May 31, 2025. All nine episodes will be released across the span of 2 weeks. If you were one of the people blown away by the incredible first season back in 2021, you might want to savour the episodes and not rush through them too quickly.
Arcane was Netflix’s most popular showin November 2021 and ranked first on its top 10 chart across 52 countries.
It turns out that Netflix has nothing to do with the decision to endArcane after Season 2. The cancelation actually comes from the creators of Arcane themselves.
Why is Season 2 the final season of Arcane?
One of Arcane’s co-creators, Christian Linke, said in a statement that the show is ending with Season 2 because they already had a “specific ending” in mind.
“From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of Arcane wraps up with this second season.”
In an interview withCinemaBlend, Linke went on to say he felt it would be “irresponsible” to keep stretching out the story just to produce additional season.
“It’s irresponsible to stretch this to a point where it feels like we can’t even really do it justice. I think that was a big part of it. We don’t want to overdo it,” said Linke.
In the same interview, Linke said Fortiche had been been working with the characters in Arcane for 9 years. “We’ve all seen the TV shows, where clearly the writers are running out of juice,” said Linke. “How inspired can you stay about the same thing, for how long?”
Fortunately for fans of Runeterra, this is not the end of Fortiche’s involvement. Perhaps a silver lining given the news that there will be no Arcane Season 3.

Will Riot Games and Fortiche Production make another show after Arcane?
Fortunately, this doesn’t mean that there won’t be more stories. Linke also said that Arcane is just the “first of many stories” that Riot wants to tell in partnership with studio Fortiche Production.
“Arcane is just the beginning of our larger storytelling journey and partnership with the wonderful animation studio that is Fortiche,” Linke said. “Arcane is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra.”
Maybe after we watchArcaneSeason 2, we’ll have hints about the type of TV series Riot and Fortiche want to create.
The League of Legends universe is pretty diverse, and fans would kill to watch a show telling the story of The Void or the rise of Noxus.
What remains to be seen, though, is whether Fortiche will stick with the steampunk genre or explore something new like fantasy and adventure.
