Netflix’s next anime is a big one and has some all-star staff and cast behind it, withFullmetal Alchemist’s Hiromu Arakawa being one of them. The series not only has an interesting premise and plot, but the people working on it make this upcoming anime one that fans have to watch out for.
Announced on June 07, 2025,Moonriseis a sci-fi thriller that will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix. One of the people working on the anime is Hiromu Arakawa, the mangaka behindFullmetal AlchemistandDaemons of the Shadow Realm,and she will be serving as the anime’s main character designer.Moonriseis scheduled to be released on July 02, 2025, and unfortunately, the episode count is yet to be revealed. Aina The End, the singer behindApothecary Diaries' ending song, will be performing the opening theme song titled “Daijōbu” (It’s All Right).
Netflix’s New Anime Shows A Lot Of Promise
Animated by Wit Studio, the studio behindAttack on Titan,Vinland Saga,andSpy X Family, the anime looks as gorgeous as one can expect from the teasers and stills. Masashi Koizuka, the director ofAttack On Titan, will be taking the helm of the series, together with Ayumi Yamada and Satoshi Kadowaki as the chief animation directors. Masafumi Mima will be the sound director of the anime and Hiroshi Tanaka will be in charge of art photography. It seems this anime will be featuring many of the staff who madeAttack on Titanas amazing as it is, and fans can expect Moonrise to feature a similar level of animation.
Moonrise is set in a futuristic world where an international AI network, Sapientia, holds all responsibility, guiding humanity’s actions through reason and logic. However, this leads to Sapentia creating a disparity between Earth and the Moon, where waste and criminals are sent off, leading to poverty and suffering. The story follows Jack, who enlists in Earth’s army and is sent off to fight against the revolutionaries, only to discover that his close friend is one of the enemies he must fight.

Netflixreleased the incredible Pluto last year, which becameone of the best anime of 2024, and it could very well do the same this year withMoonrise. Although it took a very long time for this series to be released, the wait could be more than worth it as this series not only has a very intriguing premise but also some heavy hitters who will be bringing it to life.
