Netflixmay be one of the top producers of streaming content, but their shows do not always last. While the streaming giant boasts some of the most popular series on television, such asSquid GameandWednesday,a litany of shows doesn’t survive on Netflix after a short time. As much as the world of Eleven and her friends onStranger Thingshas stunned audiences, thepremature cancelation of beloved series likeThe OAhas enraged fans over the years.

Netflix seems to be focusing all its attention on series likeStranger Thingsseason 5andWednesdayseason 2, while letting others fall by the wayside. Often, these cancelations come after just a season or two. For example, the teen action fantasy seriesLockwood & Co.got just an eight-episode season in 2023 before being nixed. Series likeAltered CarbonandSense8met similarly unwelcome demises despite loyal fan bases. Now, yet another Netflix series has come to an end after season 1.

Michael Dorman frowning as Graham Lawson in Territory

We are incredibly thankful to have had the chance to work with the wonderful cast and production team to bring Territory and the stunning Australian outback into the homes of millions around the world. Although we won’t be continuing with another season, we eagerly anticipate working with all of them again in the future.

Our Take On Territory’s Cancelation

Territory’s Low Audience Score Makes This Less Surprising Than Some Previous Cancellations

With another well-reviewed show being canceled, Netflix seems to be continuing its trend of nixing well-received series. This case is a little different sinceTerritorydid not have the same appeal from viewers asLockwood & Co., which had a 94% Popcornmeter. That said, the series performed decently well, reaching the no. 2 slot on Netflix’s top English language television chart, making the cast and crew reportedly confident that the show would return. Though this is not the case, hopefully, Quu is genuine in her desire to work with theTerritoryteam again.
