The latest trailer forSilent Hill 2 Remakeconfirms the game’s PlayStation 5 exclusivity period before seemingly teasing an Xbox release date. Ever since the announcement that Bloober Team’s take onSilent Hill 2wouldonly be available on Sony’s console, Xbox fans have actively pushed the developer to eventually bring it to other systems once the deal expires. Konami, who is publishing the game, has been especially cagey when talking about the upcoming release strategy, butif the latest trailer is any indication, it seems like Xbox players could have cause to celebrate.

Over onYouTube,Silent Hill 2 Remake’s “Immersion Trailer” concludes with a line that reads,“Not available on other formats until 22-08-2025,” implying that the PlayStation 5’s exclusivity will expire on that date.

It seems safe to assume that Xbox is the intended subject since the phrase, “Also available on PC,” is included in the same paragraph. Until such a time as Konami and Bloober Team make an official announcement, it’s worth taking this with a grain of salt but aside from the Nintendo Switch, it’s difficult to imagine another format that would supportSilent Hill 2 Remake.

Could Silent Hill 2 Remake Come To Xbox Series X|S?

There’s Always A Chance

TheSilent Hillfranchise has a long history with the PlayStation brandthat goes back to the original console. The first installment which was released in 1999, is still regarded asone of the best PlayStation One gamesof all time with many considering it to be an essential part of the device’s history. This trend changed with the launch ofSilent Hill 2,which was available on both PlayStation 2 and Xbox.

Subsequent releases also came to Xbox consoles; TheSilent Hill HD Collectioncan be played on Xbox 360, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S thanks to backward compatibility. One has to imagine then that Konami isn’t too tied to the PlayStation synergy, so it stands to reason thatSilent Hill 2 Remakecould come to Microsoft’s latest console. A wider release should yield higher sales, so a multiplatform approach makes sense.

Is the Silent Hill 2 remake justified?

The Silent Hill video games still give me nightmares when I think about them. Second only to the Resident Evil franchise in terms of games that haunt me, this has me equally excited and nervous about the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake. While I think that the premise of this game can absolutely thrive in today’s world with a bit of updating, there is something about changing such a classic that worries me. That said, I am very eager to play it, and I do think it is warranted and justified to find a way to bring this game to a new generation of players.
