The possibility of seeing the Spider-Verse and the larger Marvel multiverse cross paths with the newSpider-Manseries gets teased by theMarvel Cinematic Universeseries' showrunner. The MCU timelineis about to finally tell a version of Peter Parker’s origin story in Marvel Studios' ever-expanding franchise, withYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Manarriving in the midst of The Multiverse Saga. However, given that the animated Disney+ series will take place on a different Earth in the MCU multiverse, it begs the question of whether tapping into alternative realities will be part of the show in any capacity.

ScreenRantrecently interviewedYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Manshowrunner Jeff Trammell ahead of the MCU TV show’s premiere, marking the first project for Marvel Studios in 2025. Trammell was asked if this new version of Peter could potentially get involved with The Multiverse Saga’s overall storytelling, whether it means meeting fellow Spider-people from aSpider-Versesetting or the larger Marvel multiverse. While Trammell stated that"there’s room for pretty much anything in"Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,he explained the priority right now is to tell a street-level story for the beloved web-slinger, stating the following:

Peter Parker upside down in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Jeff Trammell: I think there’s room for pretty much anything in the series, depending on how long the show goes, hopefully, for a very long time. But I will say that for me right now, the important thing is making sure that this is a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. I love our kind of street-level aspect. We are primarily a New York-based show. There are a few instances where we kind of go a little out of New York that I won’t spoil for readers or listeners. But the big thing is setting up this world, and I don’t mind branching out of it here and there. As the show goes on, if we were to encounter other Spider-people, that could be cool. But, for the show in itself for me, I think our sweet spot is keeping a street-level, grounded Spider-Man.

What Jeff Trammell’s Crossover Comments Mean For Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Based on Trammell’s comments about potential crossovers involvingYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the story will remain street-level focused for the time being, which makes sense. To begin with, since the Disney+ series will finally go into the origin story aspect of Spider-Man that the MCU didn’t focus on Earth-616, it’s crucial to remember that this is a young web-slinger just getting started. Having any crossover plot points with the multiverse intheYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Manstorywould thus potentially be too premature at this point.

In many ways, this can be seen to mirror how Tom Holland’s Spider-Man didn’t play a large part in the overarching MCU untilAvengers: Infinity War,as the audience had to first get to know the young New York hero and his personal world.Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Manwill also be exploring characters from Peter’s mythology that the MCU films didn’t include, including Norman Osborn, who arguably need to be the focus of the first chapter of the story rather than the multiverse. As such, focusing on giving this version of Spider-Man growth first stands to reason.

Our Take On Jeff Trammell’s Crossover Comments

Based on everything Trammell shared withScreenRant,it will be more rewarding to seeYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Manpotentially factored into future Marvel multiverse stories after the world gets invested in Peter from this reality. SinceThe Multiverse Sagawon’t end until 2027, there is still plenty of time to find ways to work this Spider-Man variant into Marvel Studios' larger endgame. For now, fans can look forward to seeing Peter’s early days as a superhero inYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

The first two episodes ofYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Manseason 1 premiere on Wednesday, January 29, followed by weekly episodes on Disney+.
